    Need some opinion's...

What do you think is a fair price for my 1984 BMW 325e? I want to upgrade and buy a '88 or newer 325i pr iS. Heres a list of the good & the bad:

    - 2.7L, Inline 6, 5 speed
    - 231 080Km's (143 586 Miles)
    - Power everything (locks/ mirrors/ sunroof/ windows)
    - AC
    - Spent about $1000 in mechanical work (Rebuilt shifter bushings, "Guibeo" thingy, new tires, front brake lines, sparkplugs, Air filter etc...) All replaced with BMW parts
    - Pioneer Headunit and rear speakers
    - Built in Radar detector
    - Front bumper tuck (rear could be done before sale)
    - Local car since new, only 2 PO's (3 including me), Always serviced at BMW (have service records from 1984 - 2001)
    - The interior is in great condition. The drivers seat has a tear in it
    - There is very little rust (just a few spots here and there along the front valence)

    The bad:
    - PO had the car resprayed and clear coated - which is peeling on the trunk and hood
    - Left front fender needs paint
    - Windshield & dash are cracked
    - Passenger side window regulator needs replacing (you really have to push the up button to get it to roll up)
    - AC needs to be recharged

    Pics:

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of $4000 obo. And I do have the centercaps, I just need to refinish them.
And, yes I do know I need to wash my car.

I would be surprised if you got $4K for it. IMO

Looks worth about $1,500-2,000 USD or so, but te market prices could be different in your area (plus the CAD conversion).

etas in similar condition seem to be goin for ~$1500 cdn in my area

if the paint and seat weren't bunged you might be able to get 3000-3500

the canadian exchange is like 3 cents on the dollar..

definitely not a $4k car though

definetly not even a $2k car. The thing you may come to realize is that a lot of the time you will not get the money you put in to these cars back when you sell.

                    1. Passenger window issue is likely just the switch, swap the two and see.

                    2. See if you can find the PO, ask about paint warranty...see if you can get it resprayed for free

                    3. in USD, expect about 3200 if those issues are addressed.

                    4. Keep you fucking car and make it what you want.

I'm gonna talk things over with my parents first (I still owe them some money from parts). I'll go from there to see if my dad can respray the fender for me, so the car isn't multi-color anymore. I'm proably going to list it for sale starting around 4000obo. I know this seems high, but it allows me some breathing room for when people offer me lower amounts of money - plus it gives me more time to save my money to buy a 325i/S and work on the ETA. Also, I'm not in a rush to sell this car quickly.
