        I hate...

        suzuki/kia/daewoo

I would drive a CRX, integra or RSX, but not really any other Acura/Honda or FWD japanese car for that matter.

        I wouldn't drive a 240sx.

        I would do a Volvo 240, however.

        More to come.

I wish it would have stayed like this...

              [RANT]

Yeah, I'll disagree. Same thing I've said to other nay-sayers - the Dodge Omni Charger had two doors and a manual, so does that make it a real Charger?

Yes, the 426 was a mighty nice motor. The truth is, though that the 6.1L Hemi of today makes more power and is more fuel efficient than anything that was available in the heyday of the old Charger. And that's from the mouth of the Director of SRT at Chrysler, Dan Knott. So the engine design has changed somewhat - so what? You can get a phenomenal amount of torque out of a steam engine - want to put one in your daily driver? As technology improves, so does design. Get over it.

The concept Charger is a sweet looking car, but it didn't make it to production. We can piss and moan all we like, but that's the reality. There are new concept cars every year, very few ever get beyond that stage.

I didn't buy my Charger because it was a 1969 Charger - if I wanted one of those, I would have bought one (if I could find one in decent shape). I bought it because I needed a good-sized four-door sedan, I greatly prefer RWD to wrong-wheel-drive, and I wouldn't push a Ford off a cliff. As far as European sedans, you can't touch the performance or features you get in a Charger for less than an additional $10K, and often significantly more than that.

Unfortunately for me, though, I fell in love with the Top Banana/Solar Yellow paint scheme. When I bought the Daytona the Superbee wasn't out yet, so I've got the 5.7L, with only 350hp. Oh well. I'm waiting to see how the production Challenger comes out, or, more precisely, what engine/transmission it comes with.

The thing that gets me is all the whining that has gone on and is going on about how it's not a real Charger... Dodge could just as easily have slapped the Charger nameplate on the Caliber or the Crossfire or the Nitro and called it a day - and you know what? It would still be a Charger.

They own the name - they can put it on whatever they like. I mean, this is a Charger:

              and so is this:

              Get over it.

Back on topic, I'd have to say that anything by Kia or Hyundai are near the top of my list of cars I would never drive, even as a rental. The problem, of course, is that there are just so many unlikable cars out these days.... :)

k96ss, I totally see your point and agree for the most part. But no offense, the new Charger is ugly as sin IMO.

I may get beaten for this, but Chrysler is the only American car company I've ever liked. But their most recent generation of designs look like someone photographed their own shit and then designed a car based on it. And the Charger, although fairly powerful, is no exception.

None taken - that is one thing I admire about Chrysler - they are at least willing to go for the love-it-or-hate-it designs (minivans notwithstanding!).

What most people was mad about the new Charger was that they stuck the name on a 4 door. I had a FWD Charger, but i didn't consiter it a real chrager. Only a better looking omni. American car companys aren't thinking before they put a name on a car now. Has anyone seen the Dodge Demon that they want to make? it looks like a Audi, Sky,and S2000 mixed into one. And the whole HEMI thing, old vs. new. I'm not getting into that.

Both HEMI's are pretty decent engines, it just seems that the cars they are wrapped in aren't so good...

Must say, though, most of the SRT cars are amazing, disregarding the tranny.

Agreed. 6.1 liters, 420 hp and 420 lb-ft is pretty impressive for a pushrod, OHV design. Even the 5.7 isn't bad for an american mass production V-8. Ya I know the 750i makes about 30 more hp with 900cc less displacement, but it has all kinds of cool and expensive technology. Now all Dodge needs is a good 6 speed stick for those SRTs and they could get some real muscle car guys to gravitate towards their showrooms.
