For the naysayers, this dude sounds pretty legit and this link is recent and from a conference just awhile back where he's trying to get the word out.

You guys have to realize the steps it takes to go from 'make engine' to 'have car mfctr's fighting over your engine' to 'spend billions on R&D on how to best use the engine in the car' to 'present information to shareholders to decide if they want to go with the engine' to 'optimize R&D design for production vehicle' to 'produce vehicle using said engine'

Its not an overnight thing or even an over the course of a year thing.

Never thought I'd say this, but it looks less reliable than a wankel.

Call me close-minded but if I had to take a bet, my money would be on any production model 4 cylinder engine before I would bet on something that looks like the electric motor from a washing machine.

Even though the 3D animation makes the concept plausible, I think that I would be a believer if the unit was bigger.

seems very plausible and an engineering feet...but there is plenty more money to squeeze out of the average american with simple "large" engines.

Regardless of how good it seems and how powerful it is, it won't catch on...oh well

I'll stick with my almost 20yr old motor and be happy with that

Just think........... you would not have a wanker engine. You would have a RAPHIAL MOGADO in your german car..................

I only have one question for now. How would you mount that? Much less putting out 500flb of torque.??? Seems like it would crack that housing if you mounted directly to it. Esp being so small

Hopefully that engine takes off. It does seem to good to be true though.

I wonder if you have to double clutch when you upshift with this thing, and can you blow the welds on it's intake? shit.

                          har har...

Saw a similar motor at the Moscone Auto Show in San Francisco a while back. Looks promising, but I bet it is hard to brake this kind of design into a market that has companies with bazillions of dollars to keep you quiet. There are tons of neat things like this out there, a lot of it just gets silenced with money and/or people's fear of new things. I know I question its durability, how fast it can come up to speed, max RPM, cost, etc etc.

If it's true, I wonder how long it will take before the oil companies buy or neutralize this guy.

                            Sure would be sweet....

And now that you said that, I wonder how well this thing can handle engine braking. From what I understand, a standard internal cumbustion engine is more foregiving on the redline when accelerating, however, its very easy to blow the engine if you make the car redline without accelerating- e.g. if are going 80MPH and then all of a sudden you decide to shift the car into second gear.

I don't see how the piston puck things are connected to the drive section. Are they stuck on a stick or something? That might be difficult to keep sealed under extreme pressures.
If this engine could make 1/3 the power claimed 1/3 the fuel economy then it would still be an amazing engine for its size.
