4.10, but LSD was an option. Look for the "s" on the tag on the back of the diff. My diff also has large white "s"s stamped all over it.

Yeah, I always thought LSD was standard on an "iS"...

The auto we converted to a manual at work had a 3.73 lsd.

Very interesting. I'll have to get under her tomorrow and see what's in there.

Should be a 3.73, could be open or LSD. 4.10's didn't come until 1990 I believe.

Is there a market for the 4.10LSD?

Probably one of the most desirable diffs.

not so much anymore it seems.

If anyone desires- I've got one FS.

OH, and to help clarify the diff question that this thread has brought up- All E30 325is 5 speeds had 3.73 LSD, Early E30 325is automatics also had 3.73 LSD (up until mid '88 I think) SO all 89, 90, 91 (if there was such a thing) 325is autos will have a 410 LSD from the factory.

Keep in mind that by now many of these have been swapped- I've found all sorts of different (i.e.- not as came from the factory) ratios in cars while looking for diffs.

+1 to everything Bret just said .

Plus I'll add that although the "s" designation meant that LSD was standard on the 6cyl cars it was still only an option on the 318is .

So this means that all "is" or "es" came with LSD as part of the "sport package" but the 318is came with an open diff unless the LSD option was selected .

So true that by now many diffs could/may have been swapped though .
Recently while in a boneyard I came upon a tarted up (read fanboy) 318is and discovered it had an Etas 2.79LSD installed in it .
Can you imagine how slow that thing would have been . :D
Guess the fanboy thought the LSD would be a good upgrade but neglected to inform himself about the actual ratio . :D

                              E30 M3 / E30 325is / E34 525iT / E34 535i
