    Light problems

I bought hella euro ellipsoids a few months back. One of my headlights is half lit (I'm guessing that's the way they're supposed to be), and the other one is all the way lit. Just to give you an example, I was leaving my brother-in-law's house; My car was a good 100 yards away from his apartment and he said the light was blinding on the second floor. Could this be a bad ground or relay? Has anyone had a similar problem with this before?

What do you mean one is "half lit"? The low beam will only have the projector lens "lit up". I don't uderstand what the problem is; you said that one is "half lit" and then you said that the light is 'blinding' from 100 yards away. But they definitely should not be blinding anyone on the second floor of a building. I think you have them aimed incorrectly.

the ellipsoids have a cutoff inside them to make it display light through the lower half of the ellipsoid so it doesn't blind people, maybe you're missing that part? or they could be aimed horribly

they are probably not aimed correctly.

No, you guys are missing my problem. It's not that it's not aimed correctly. My brother in law has the same ellipsoids on his e30. The one headlight on my car that is "half lit" looks the same as his headlights. The other one looks too bright. If i'm in front of a wall with my headlights on, one side has a level beam and the other side doesn't. Maybe i'm not explaining the problem right. But it's definately not something as simple as it being aimed in wrong direction.

so you are saying one is running on low beam power, and the other is on high-beam power?

so you're saying one has a cutoff present when shooting light against a wall, whereas one just looks like a high-beam?

Maybe the low beam bulb burnt out and only his city light is working on one side.

                  Is the projector lens intact?

The lens is intact. It's only a few months old.
Digitalwave: Yes, that's what I'm saying. I'm guessing it's either the relay or a bad ground. I wanted to see how many people on here might have had the same problem and see how the dealt with it

Wait. Your low beam isn't even lit up on one side? Just the city-light is on? Have you checked the bulb?

Wow, I have read this thread and have no clue what is going on.

Lemme see if I can decipher what you mean. Is one lighting normally giving a sharp line at the top so it looks kinda like on of these?

BUT that the other side is just ligjhting all over to look more like this?

And you are SURE they are euro ellips, they are not like the Hella H4s? The Euro ellips would look like this with just the citylight and off it would show a dark eye in the center:

Notice how the light is really small and on the top.

If they were ellips they wouldnt look like Digitalwaves car, more like the white one near the top.

If it IS just the citylight then what kind of wiring setup do you have? Are you pulling both power and ground off the parking lights?
                        Im now E30less.
