Yeah. Normally this shit doesn't bother me, but sometimes people just make themselves sound like complete and utter fools when talking in their "IM voice".
The "ganan" thing really bothered me, though.
I get IM's all the time from random new members just wanting to shoot the shit with me or asking for help, and the second they start typing in full-on AIM shorthand, I close the window and block them. I can tolerate LOL and OMG, but good lord, show some kind of intelligence.
I was in a Critical Thinking and Writing class and the professor was telling us about corporate America having this same problem: too many people not knowing (no, now, know, etc.) how to e-mail each other with clear and complete sentences... and they were on the job in their professional settings! He talked about how there are so many people that get through high school and beyond without being able to clearly express themselves (properly) in writing.
Granted, this lil AIM conversation is not mega-important in the big scheme of things, but goddamn. Wigger fo sho.
Wrong on all counts. Cholos are Mexican Gangsters. All the dudes with HUGE Frisco's or Ben Davis's or DIckies (pants), creased to the fucking stiffness and white Tshirts, bald heads. I would know, I was in a neighborhood (gang) for almost a decade. Then I grew up.
I despise internet shorthand especially when someone wants to do business with me. There are times when it is acceptable like if a business associate of mine and I are in the same meeting he has to text message me from across the room to tell me tha the is leaving or if he is prompting me to ask a a question but I prefer that you email me in hip-hop slang. At least you would use complete sentences and I would have some idea as to what you are talking about.
