I dont heel toe like everyone is saying.

Since the E30 accelerator pedal is attached at the base i have the ball of my foot on the brake, and my toes on the top of the accelerator. I like it that way.

And ncturnl once the car is in gear after you downshifted you can take your foot off of the gas....you just have to give it gas so it matches rpms, cause little to no damage on your clutch.

When you're backing into a stall (the only way to park an e30 ), I don't want to be giving it a lot of gas, so I just let off the clutch until it starts to catch, push it in again, let off, push in, etc to get the very slow roll. How hard is this on the clutch? If you do it differently, any tips?

That doesnt do much damage, because the car is moving, instead of using energy to not move.

Its just like taking off from a light, except easier on the clutch.

Maybe that came out wrong. I never do it on a big hill, just when there is an ever-slight incline.. times when you really don't need to fully brake, but don't want to roll backward.

Either way, I just finished the auto to manual swap so it's a new clutch. I'll stop that completely and baby it from now on. ;-)

My M30 loves to down-shift chirp - not sure why. I think it's partially cause the rotating mass of the motor is a lot more than a m20, and that I have very good compression on the motor.

I'm confused. Down shifting (be it normally, rev matched, or heel and toe) is such a basic concept, how do some people not understand it?

Cause you were "Granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should"...

                    I'm quite confident i've got heel-toe...ing nailed.
Its a simple concept but, can be hard to understand, unless you see it...
I'll try and post a video in this thread later.
Lol you guys can tell me if i'm doing it wrong, though it allways seems to work perfectly for me...

I clutch wih my left foot, then easy on the brake with my right foot toes, shift down then "punch" the accelerator with the side of my foot... Then release clutch. Works every time!

                      I still gotta admit though
It is pretty satisfying when I chirp the tires while im slowing down, lol.

Just don't do it in a fast corner - "lift throttle over steer"...It's taken out many a 911 as well.

use the brakes to slow the car down. not the clutch.

go change a clutch, then change your brakes. you'll know what i mean.

brakes stop the car, the clutch gets it going.

down shifting is not for daily driving. it never was, never will be.

                            psh...but I love downshifting. LOL

It's more satisfying for me to ehar my engine rev up and slow down nice and smooth. :)

Sean, your car looks DROPPED, or is it just the tires sittin up there? lol

If it comes down to changing my clutch one day , its good, what will not be good is the down time, but oh well, shit happens. I like having fun in my car sometimes ( not exactly ALL the time ), and when I have fun, I tear it the hell up ( not the car, the tires :-) )
