      Depends on the yard.

The main one I hit up I don't steal at. Just because I really like the people who run it and they already have dirt cheap prices. Most of the time if I am grabbing something stupid and small they just give it to me for free anyways. They say I'm there enough and not to worry about it. Also, I can bargain down super cheap with them. If they say $20 I pull out a 5 and 4 ones then ask if 9 is ok, and they just say yeah.

If its a yard I hate, like these fuckers who are some religion or something and they are not open on saturdays. Their yard is full of fucking barn animals and theres shit all over. I steal left and right. They piss me off, they have waaayyy to many rules, and charge up the asshole for the most trivial shit. I had one guy just BLOW UP on me when I was trying to get a glove box cheaper from him. He fucking wanted $25 for it and I said that was spendy. He went on and on about how I am trying to screw him out of money and how horrible I am. God I hate them so much.... Actually I never had the chance to steal anything for myself, just my buddies will steal tons and tons of stuff from them. I just watch and support them.

I like to 5-finger the spoils left behind after the wreck. It's amazing what people leave in their cars after a major accident. I have scored tools, CD's, DVD's, cell phones, a thumb drive, porn mags, road maps, and a couple of months ago there was an Astro Van in the yard that formerly belonged to the local cable company. Inside there were new remote controls, splitters, F-connectors, cable clamps, etc. I figure if anyone searched me on the way out I could tell them that I worked for the cable company and I use my tool bag for all kinds of jobs.

.. and those fuckin rules are spot on.

Sometimes I care about being jacked on certain parts – and sometimes I don’t.

If one shops yards with any regularity, one will find that there are good and bad days regardless.

                            White Lies FTW!

But as for those other small parts like dimmer switches, trim pieces, nuts, bolts, screws.. I don't ever feel bad about stealing that stuff because its all going to end up in a pile of crushed and broken pieces that nobody gave a crap about anyway. Its like once they pull the engine, transmission and maybe a few other key parts that are in good condition, they really don't care much about the little stuff.

But I certainly would not attempt to steal anything of real tangable value like a steering column or a pair of tail lights.. although I did happen to snag a couple of side markers in the midst of pulling an instrument cluster.

Damn.. I havent ever stolen anything from the Pick n Pull. They give me great deals anyway.

Last time I went I got a pedal assembly (including clutch slave and lines), all of the fuel hoses in the engine compartment, a fpr, a full exhaust (minus cat), random switches, and some other brackets and such for $5.50.

I have a funny story related to this.
                                The tips:
First off i always stock up on fuses and shift knobs, hose clamps, window up/down switched, sunroof cranks. All the small parts that break easily on e30s. Also i came up with a great idea for "buying" parts. I use a trojan horse method, i buy a big cheap part and put a smaller expensive part inside it. I put a 173 ecu into the back of the drivers seat and bough it. My friend stole a whole garret T3 off of a volvo.
                                The story:
Anyway i go to the junkyard and realize there is a fresh 88 325i parked toward the front of the yard, not yet with the other imports, It had imaculate black leather interior so i decided to get the drivers seat. On the way out the guy tells me its gonna be crushed real soon. So hurriedly the next day i go out with a friend with a full tool set, i dive into the engine bay cutting belts and hacksawing some stuff to get the i camshaft, i intake manifold, front and back seats all leather, i gauge cluster. i even put an xbox controller in the back of one of the seats that i had found. So I pretty much destroyed this cars engine bay to get the parts i wanted. threw the head of the m20 into a random van so it wouldn't get crushed. So after 3-4 hrs of work me and my friend carry all the parts up making 2 trips. The guy says "you got 600 dollars worth of parts there" as i layed them all out on the floor. i tell him ill give him all the money in my wallet for them which was $ 110 with 10 1 dollar bills, he hands me back all the ones so i get everything for $100. I come back the next day for the steering wheel and he says he can't even let me back into the yard. I guess the car was an impound, lol. It was someone's running e30 which i stripped and destroyed and it wasn't legaly the yards property yet. I guess all the guys that work the yard were really pissed off that it happened and they were gonna fence off that whole area of the yard because of me. As soon as he told me i got the hell outta there before anyone else saw my car. I haven't been back since and when i do go i sure as hell won't be driving my E30.

quick notes: Topoftheline89 tears apart someone elses E30 parked at a junkyard unknowingly. Sorry whoever you are out there.
