    Injector swap question

I search for that without any luck....sorry if it an answered question...
Do I need to change the Fuel Pressure Reg If I swap my injectors with a set of 17.5lbs ones (m50) and swap to a MarkD chip (17lbs and 93 oct)??

I think the M30 comes with a 3.0bar FPR, but I'm not sure. That could work?

Don't swap regulators, all it does is confuse the ECU and lengthen the adaption process.

i personally cant see how the M50 injectors could possibly be good for the M20. the spray pattern is setup for for a 4 valve head. so it is going to be spraying completely wrong for the shape of your intake port. right?

I am not sure, but wouldnt the M30 injectors be better?

it's not a matter of "made for a 4 valve head". they are just design II/III injectors - which were used on all sorts of motors (including lots of 2 valve Fords).

As Nando said, and in addition your stock FPR is fine.

Dont use injectors from an 83 84 533i [low ohm]. They will work in an ETA motor but not an I motor.

are they really the same injector? I am not doubting you, because I really dont know what fords you are talking about. could they have different attomizer nozzle things on them? I am in school over here, and we just went over that topic a week or so ago. They are 100% designed for a 4 valve head(the ones in a M50) they spray in a pattern that shoots a stream to the left and right. There is alot in the design of how fuel is sprayed(i know in a 20 year old motor) it isnt such a big thing.

any german mechanic would tell you not to use them because of that. once again, I am not saying it doesnt work, just questioning if it is not better to use the M30 injectors.

The M30 19lbs Injectors are too big for the set up I want.

FYI... even if one of the BOSCH design II injectors are setup to fork the spray to the sides (which I doubt, but I'm entertaining the thought) I seriously doubt it would make a damn bit of difference in a running engine.

In a static environment you will see a wonderfully atomized cone of fuel. At the monstrous feet per second the intake charge is rushing by the pintle.. I just don't see the spray pattern mattering a damn bit.

yah, you must be right. the spray pattern has absolutely nothing to do with power or the way a car runs or anything like that, those stupid bosch engineers just make crap up.
