What/When did you pay for your E30?

    1: 85 eta, 140k miles on it. Payed $400 and it needed a CRB,guibo, and a severe cleaning to get it on the road. That was almost 2 years ago. A old lady took it in to get crushed and the junkers didn't want to crush it cause it wasn't that bad of car. I got my use out of the car and seeing that the paint was starting to go bad and the damage from a wreck long ago plus the motor was getting tied i stripped it and took it in and watched it get crushed.

    2: 87 325es, Unclear on miles, someone changed the speedo. Payed $800 and it needed a fuel pump,AFM, and a coolant senser. Found it sitting in a junk yard, had a plastic bumper swap and the front fender had a big dent in it. Now it has all my euro stuff on it from my 85 and will be on the road next week.

        Still together? My girlfriend got me a 72 2002 for christmas 2 years ago.

          $7k for mine in may 2002. 130k, newish paint, new TC, all maintenance up to date. It appraised for $7k this spring.

          I think I have about $20-25k into it now, not including the purchase price..

            I approached the PO and told her I wanted it. When I asked what she might want for it, she said, "I don't know, 2 (thousand)?" I told her I'd help her decide what to get next, as the e30 was too small for her lifestyle needs. Interesting lady; used to own a Citroen! Anyway, 3 months later she calls and tells me she found a car. I go to test drive the BMW and look it over, and it turns out my friend had serviced it before. He just said, "Good car." The radio was fucked and it had some goofy isses like a pegged temp gauge, but she had an assload of receipts totaling around $15k and had only put 5k on it in the last two years. First owner installed Bilstein BTS setup plus bushings and a Dinan chip. She didn't really understand all that but liked how it drove. Engine had only 53k (113k on chassis) due to an incident with a large rock on the highway. She hoped I wasn't mad that it wasn't the orginal engine... receipt said complete rebuilt motor installed so ok.

            She ended up dropping the price to $1800 and told the titling place it was only $200 to save me money. She hugged me when I took the keys. I still feel like I robbed her.

              My latest E30 (track/autocross car) cost me $2800 3 years ago. The car was bought from auction with no history except that it had been stolen and recovered. It still has the "state of washington" stickers on the inside of the door as a stolen car.
              Although it ran perfect and only had 145k on it, I wasnt interested at first without knowing maintainence history. Three weeks later it was still for sale and I got the price down to 2800 from 3500.

              It is, by far, the best car I have owned in every aspect.

              edit: btw, 1989 325i...lotsa mods since

                I bought my 325is for 3500 2.5 years ago....since added MANY mods, complete paint etc etc... Bought my 325e for 3900 alittle over a year and a half ago, original owner, all records, full suspension, ronals etc. The 325e was the best car I have ever owned (Out of the 4 cars I have had in the last 4 years). Never had any serious problems with it at all.

                  Bought my 91' 318is with 188k on the the ticker back in july. Paid 2350$ for it and came with 5 oil cartridges, and 2 sets of wipers.

                    August 2007 - $700 it came with $3000 in reciepts and had minor problems but runs and drives perfect. Reciepts include new LCA's, gas tank, head. And plus the guy threw in a Garrett Perkins T3 and a FMIC.

                      Paid 6200 for mine in early 2006 i think. new top, new leather interior, 2000 in tune up stuff, and new exhaust system. 112,XXX the car was mint:D

                        hmmm free

                        but i had to replace the fan clutch and fix a leaking rear main seal

                        other than that car is mint, 1owner old lady car
                        beware of attack squirrels

                          Last year: 1987 316 4 door. (m10)

                          $1.100 for the car.
                          $ 150 for new set of gaskets (engine)
                          $ 100 Cyl head repair

                          Since then, rims, tires, dist. cap, spark plug wires, uppholstery, Brakes.

                          The PO had done nothing to it in years, the car is solid, and even though the paint is not finished yet, it git appraised for 4.5000 here.

                          Remeber I'm in Chile - South America.

                          BTW - The engine just turned 400.000 Kilometers and not a bit of smoke, when i took the head out Cyls were perfect, not a sign of wear.

                            2 years ago I paid $4K for a 1990 325i 4 door with 180K miles and some very nice mods (reinforced sways, Bilstein sports, Eibach springs, BMP cam, is sport seats, etc.). The car was incredibly well kept with a stack of maintenance records, a recent timing belt / H2O pump, and NO rust.

                            I've since gone the Euro S50 route and made this a full blown track car. There are days when I wish it was just a DD with the M20 in it still... and there are days when this thing is just stupid, scary, wonderful fast and to hell with all the fascist state troopers and prozac taking robots drifting out of lanes in their Kenmore Camrys.

                              $600 bad bronzit paint and dead cooling system. 166,000 miles. Spent $1400 on wheels and tires a week later.

                                Nah. We both go to the same college now, but I really don't want a girlfriend while I'm in school. Still get with her once in a while.

                                I'm actually good friends with her dad. Weird.
