Honda Fits have a little red [image of a thermometer] icon with a "H" for hot, and bluish [image of a thermometer] icon with a "C" for cold.

Lame. Cheap kaws though, and with the declining quality and throw-away purpose these days (combined with *yawn* slushboxes and people who don't understand what it means until the engine doesn't run anymore) it's expected.

For the iS, just started up and went. But the 325i I let it run its little early snoozyness (tired old neglected engine) then go.

From what Ive heard BMW does not recommend that you let the car warm up. You should start it and begin driving. This helps to warm the engine up more rapidly and helps expel the moisture that has collected in the combustion chambers and intake. You should not begin driving the engine hard until it reaches operating temperature. You should also not drive the car hard until the Trans and Differential oil has had time to reach operating temperature as well. I use to let mine warm up till I read this and had many people confirm it on Bimmerforums, just a heads up. It may save you a gallon of gas a year, lol.

yea in the manual they say to start driving right away keeping it under 3k ...so thats what i do

the car actually runs better when its cold outside (atleast to me it does) probably has something to do with the dense cold air and fuel atomization and yadda yadda

Something about the varying RPMS is better then staying at one constant RPM.

Now, that's not to say you should redline the engine when cold, but driving is fine.

I usually just give the engine a bit of time to get oil circulating everywhere and then take off. That way I don't put stress on anything that isn't lubricated.
This what I've always done. And in fact, if you read the owner's manual, it actually tells you just to start the car and go, never to let it sit and idle.

I park in 1st, when I go to start it, put my foot to the floor and let the starter bump it while in gear, then when it comes to life shift after fishtailing out of my parking spot bumping off the limiter in every gear.

I let my 6er warm up for about 2 minutes, she just doesn't like to go when it's cold out... I can't wait until the new head is ready to go on... Along with the IE headers... No mo EGR system (damn federalization...) :pimp:

I give the Alfa about 60 seconds, max. Definitely don't run either engine over 3k before they are nice and warm... I'm a bit paranoid.

Start it, make sure oil pressure light goes off, wait another 10 seconds for oil to circulate..drive off. Wait till its at operating temp before I decide to push it past 4K.

start it, walk around it to see whats fallen off or what lights have burned out since last time, get in and drive a couple miles, then rev limiter in every gear.
