    When Replacing Front Wheel Bearings...

    What all do I need to replace from the following diagram (besides #1, the bearing/hub assembly)...

    Bearing/hub assy, axle nut, dust cap.

      Just the big nut Ben. Unless you are a monster you should be able to reuse the dust cap.

        Dust cap is what, $2? I rather buy new ones just in case.

            Naw, he's from CA. You could probably pry the dust cap out with a jeweler's screwdriver. No rust. I removed a brake disc setscrew from an 30K mile M3 hub, and it was on a tad past finger tight. I nearly wept.

                If its been a CA car most/all its life, just check the dust cap and nut for rust. If there's just a little surface rust, brush it off with a wire brush and coat it with some WD40 or something similar. That's all it should really need. If you have to replace the nut or dust cap, don't worry.....those are R3V cheap.

                    the dust cap serves no purpose other than keeping dust out, if its like my e30 they came out super easy, so i just reused them. it might be cheap to get new ones but its still a waste of money if you don't need it.
