In L.A. they'd attempt to steal your identity as well. That or they would pass it off as Alpina because their was an address on it...dumb people here

I LOL at the noobs suggesting giant bolts , screws or rivets .

Like Josh suggests above , you don't want to rigidly mount the lip as it will get fubar'ed once knocked off and might tweak your valance as well .

The sure fire way that I've always used is to use the OE clips or a few wel;l placed zip-ties to mount it ...but then also add a few zip-ties that are loose .
That way once it gets torn off it will still be attached to the valance by the loose zip-ties .

And you don't need 30 zip-ties either ...thats serious overkill , I only had 4 actually fastening my Rieger rep and currently have 4 holding up the "is" lip on my '89 .

Yeah, and then when you accidentally bump a curb or hit something in the road, insted of just ripping off the lip, it stays attached and twists your valence into a bread tie, costing more to fix/replace than it would to just replace the lip if someone steals it.

Zip ties are the only way to go for iS/Rieger lips. That's how I have mine attached, I have a zip tie through every one of the holes that the clips snap into, so I think there's like close to 30 of them.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, that's the most classic lip I have ever seen. Be sure to add an address and a prepaid UPS label ;)

Thanks everyone for all the good suggestions. I am pretty sure it didn't fall off I had to tug on it to take it off whenever working on the fogs. Also the clips are in tact so I don't think it got ripped off. I kind of just figure I would cut my losses and get a new one and do what you all said and bolt that shit on there. I even thought about bolting it on a while back but I never really figured somebody would be that big of a dick bag to steal another mans chin spoiler. Karma will get him. Ignorance will be the death of us all.

oh and if anybody knows of somebody selling a chin spoiler please let me know. thanks.

I have been told that, so that's all I really know - but is there a way to use a few extra fasteners?

If there's a spot (or a few spots) with 2 parallel planes with surface area large enough to seat a screw head, that would be where I'd run a pop rivot & backer washer, or one of the others I mentioned.

Is there just no areas like that? - I never have seen the whole deal up close, just told that it clips in.

I'm going to see if I can't find a pic, maybe that will answer the whole thing for me. I'm guessing the screw thing wouldn't work, or people would have started doing it long ago.

Sorry for your loss, the only thing that saves them from destruction is that they pop off. Are you 100% sure you did not lose it? Mine came off with very little impact.
