Haha I know exactly what you are talking about. One day I was riding in my friends 600hp ram and a white prius in the high speed lane was going exactly the same speed as everyone else was. When she finally pulled over, she rolled down the window and flipped us off. He pulled up so his exhaust was right next to her open window and floored it. I still laugh about that whenever I see one of those fugly things.

Best tips to saving fuel (manual or automatic):

              1) group errands to make one trip versus several

              2) don't 'lead foot' all the time (i.e. when the light goes green)

              3) keep tires properly inflated

              4) keep car properly tuned

              5) bike or use public transit whenever possible (I do both)

These suggestions are simple, effective, and proven.

not if you bump start it by easing the clutch out and then rev matching back to your gear. this is all coming from the guys that are getting like 60mpg out of their honda civics and stuff so they must be doing something right.

it obviously works or the guys on cleanmpg.com would not get the mileage they do.

the engine will still run richer after it restarts - it takes a while for the O2 sensor to come back online, among other things.

and like I said, the ECU already cuts the fuel under deceleration.

                      Nice tips!!!1!

Another little know trick is that if you vent your exhaust back into your intake you'll reduce emissions immensely! Big oil companies just don't want you to know this because you will save so much gas they will go out of business.
