what camshaft suppliers are there for our cars?

looking for a 272 roughly, is there anything the same price besides the regrind and oversize eccentrics which cost around 330?
ive looked at crane, summit, and cant find one (not suprised).
    thanks!

    TopEnd.

They will grind anything you want from a blank Shrick billet for about $325.

wow! thanks! i used them for the regrind which costs 230 shipped and the eccentrics are like 95 plus shipping from bmp.
Will i still need bigger rocker eccentrics (dumb question probably because the whole base circle thing).

      ^_^

You will not need larger eccentric with a new cam.

        Regrinds are junk.

funny, the "new" cam topend sent me needed larger eccentrics - I think they ripped me off. but yeah, regrinds are crap.

Here is a Cat Cam 292 for sale. That would be a good cam for an agressive high compression N/A motor with some minor retuning with a standalone. I am not sure you want to go that far yet.

I have been told the 284/272 schrick is a great cam for the street on a stock or mild street engine.

and the person that told you that ought to be shot.

The stock cam is a great cam for a stock street driven engine. A high duration cam, particularly a dual pattern one, will only make Motronic yet more irritated with the engine. Don't go over 274 for a street driven m20, with plenty of internal work done. Getting a new cam for a m20 really is a moot point anyways. All they do is push the powerband higher, which is a losing battle to begin with.

It seems lately every other thread I see from someone with a stock m20 looking for performance wants to get a new cam and headers... both of which simply are lousy bang for the buck items on a m20.

the schrick 284/272 is pretty mild jordan - and they do a bit more than just move the power band up higher. not sure I'd reccomend it for a completely stock motor, but mine ran just fine.

apparently, none of the schrick cams are especially agressive. I have this really sick idea in my head that I want to try a schrick 304, just for shits and giggles. would work better if I had the 11:1 pistons though.

Unless you completley build the motor right? Like bore, stroke, hone, the whole shebang.
or am i wrong per usual?
