when you sell them do you need the whole pipe section, or would you be able to sell one that was cut off?

the flange that holds the muffler section of mine on to the cat broke off, so i'm cutting it off and replacing it with a glasspack, is it still worth scrap money?

In that case you have to give them the whole car.

I didn't know this either...hmmm...I wondered why I always saw used ones on ebay.

          maybe rethink your question?

You're selling it for SCRAP. As long as the guts of the cat are intact (looks like a honeycomb inside), then it's worth good $$ for SCRAP. Pipes and flanges are not needed, and most places don't want them.

Yea, we get like 175-200 a piece for the E30 ones at work and like 150 a piece for the E36 ones (E36=2 cats).

This is a good enough reason to lower your car.

HAHAHAHAA!!! This forum needs more good seinfield references.

The nearest scrapper to my place said like 60-80 for the one e30 cat, maybe i should shop around?

Not exactly the way I remember it. You posted the cats FS, I made an offer, you made a counter, we agreed on a price. You never asked about where to sell them or what I was gonna do with them. I also seem to remember that you really needed to get rid of the remaining M3 parts so you could move to France.

Now, don't you have some Freedom fries to eat or some cigarettes to smoke? ;)

Theft from Toyotas has gotten bad enough a lot of guys are adding a skidplate to their slider bars to slow down the cat theives. It's not so bad with Landcruisers, but the truck guys are seeing it big time - easy to get out, and big cases=big $$$.

Seems like anything is fair game these days - live copper wire, cats - why can't someone steal the neighbor kids' car stereo that he blasts coming home EVERYDAY.

I'll tape a $20 to his windsheild to sweeten the pot......Blue Accura Intega on the 2400 block of Lilac? Any takers? Please? As loud as it is, it must be nice.....

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

there can be more than just platinum in them actually.. the cats that sell for a lot (ie E30/euro cats) may contain several other precious metals.
