2469lbs ... unmanned, rear seat out, no tools, spare out, rear boot carpet out, basketweaves, recaro front seats, 1/2 tank.

apparently the unmanned book weight is 2533lbs. but im guessing that would be fully laden (fuel interior etc.)
fuckin right, good number. That is what mine weighed with no carpet, backseat, spare, etc. Now up to just over 2600 wtih the 6banger
My 84 323 (325 motor) with race seats, no rear seats, no sound deadning, the spare wheel in, a full tank of gas is only 2354 lbs. Early euro e30s are pretty light - and you get the nice pretty bumpers.
Do you have the 2.5 325i motor? Trick. Still using the lightweight 323 gearbox and rearend?

2350 is awesome; what other tricks do the euro cars have to keep the weight down? Less crash protection, door beams?
Yeah I have the 2.5 325 motor - with 323i head that raised compression a bit (still the big port head). Lightened crank, con rods, flywheel. Using a Getrag 260 325 box.

In the boot of my car it orginally had huge rubber mats - not the tar stuff. So i pulled all that out which saved HEAPS of weight. My car has no options (cept sunroof). There was no sound proofing under the rear seat. Small 325 radiator instead of 323 one. Manual rack.

The two seats I put in weight less than one stock seat - so that saved a bit of weight (they are damn ugly and rice but hey they hold you in the seat)

Bunch of info on the car at http://www.bmwclub.org.nz/feature.htm

edit: and after finding out what the door beams are (i've never seen them before) I don't have them.
Your car is very interesting, what a perfect car to use for a built S14 or even S50 swap. That is a very nice 2.5 conversion you have done, what rearend do you use with the new trans?

    i love it

Cheers, If I could afford an S50 (the euro 6 throttle body ones are worth some serious $$ here) then I would. For now i'll stick to the turbo plans.

I have an open 3.64 diff - LS Diffs are extremely rare here also - people pay around $1000 for them. It has the 325 subframe - the 323 (early 84 subframes in general) subframe has different diff mountings and a different diff - so the subframe and diff were swapped for the 325 parts.

well, I weighed the 325 yesterday.
No A/C or fan, no tar rearward of the front seats, momo start seats, 3/4 tank of gas.
        2668.
        53 / 47% front/rear balance.
        49.7 / 50.3% left/right balance.
I have to break 2600 before March.

does your car have a full interior, ie. rear seat, carpet, door panels etc? that's a pretty good weight!

yup, full interior. None of this "race" shit for my street car currently. When it becomes an HPDE car in a few months, ill post my 2550 weight :)
The stock vinyl non-sport seats weigh an even 40 lbs, so the momo starts shaved a lot of weight out.

you can take out some very nice weight pretty easily. If you get a fiberglass hood, thats some significant weight savings. Taking out the trunk tar, ALL A/C components, engine fan, and removing the tar in the cockpit will add up. I figure I can drop below 2600 with the addition of the second momo seat (-20 lbs) and a fiberglass hood, along with the extra 10-15 lbs of tar still throughout the car. If you want to get crazy, you can take off the noise reduction from the tranny tunnel :)

                  Start a diet bia.

Or do the Charlie suggested "kidney removal" mod to drop weight. Hey, some poor sick guy needs another kidney more than you need it.

                  nice work btw to 2660

no, I conveinently left myself out of that weight for a reason, Robert :)
This way I can get fat as shit over x-mas break while I am shooting for 2600, and then I can ride my bike after the holidays.
I am thinking of just cutting parts off that I dont NEED (that stupid extra 4th lug, mirrors, seatbelts, dash, brake pedal, hood, trunk, fenders, doors. Hell, Ill sit on the frame. No seats.)

However, Charlie does bring a valid point, a kidney can buy a bunch of track time.
