How much would you pay for my car?

4.5-5.5K max. there are tons of clean ass e30's in cali. theres nothing overly special about your e30, it just looks clean. with all the 24V swapped e30's with tastefull mods coming out of the woodworks, which will be going for ~7-10K, thats just the price yours is gonna pull with a respray, who did the paint work?

also, you could have gotten it for less.

It's CLEAN - but nothing special. I'd rather buy a "project" car with a ton of money invested in motor and suspension that needs a paint than a clean car that is more or less stock.

But this is R3V - where a dirty/greasy 4.10LSD 90k diff sells for $100 - and a hosed off/freshly painted painted 250k 4.10LSD diff sells for $500.

I wouldn't worry too much about how much you paid unless you're talking ridiculously higher than what is being thrown around here.

Show me cars like this for $3K and I'll come buy them all day long. It is easily worth more than that, though when you get into bigger money for these cars you're looking for a particular kind of buyer.

For example, you can find decent M6/M635's these days for the low teens, but unless I were desperate, I wouldn't let my M635 go for a dime less than $25K. At that price, there are only a few people who are going to be interested - they are looking for a particular set of things. You've got more or less the same thing going.

At least on the East Coast, you don't see very many clean E30's. Here I'd say that car would fetch $6K without too much trouble. The main thing is that maint. and upgrades don't get much value, if any.

Forget what you paid and enjoy the car - it is a nice one!

since you never get out what you put into it... the mods/upkeep is GREAT but doesn't yield much in dollar terms. I would put that car at $6-6.5k depending on how she drove (ball joints, bushings, last timing belt job, etc.).

Can you really? I live in Santa Barbara, so it's a bit far away, but I would be willing to wake up at 5am and drive down if you thought you could fix it in a day..

As for how I paid for it, I am a bit reluctant to say. I didn't pay over 9k$, and I didn't pay under 6k$, we'll keep it at that. At that price, there are only a few people who are going to be interested" I think I was definitely one of those "few people", and my terms for wanting an E30 was that I wanted something that needed basically NOTHING done to it, and I wanted it clean, and running perfect, and that's what I got, and I think I paid for it.

Yeah, maybe I did pay a wee bit too much, but in the end I think I am extremely happy with it. It's a great car, and I know that right now it is the most practical car to have since I don't have a garage to cover it etc..I will wait until I get a real career job then I'll get myself a Z4 M Coupe and a B5 S4 Avant :)

I am happy, really I am. But I do have a bit of buyers remorse only because I partially wish I had tried out a different platform(E36/E46) since I've had an E30 before. Definitely want to stay BMW, but I do partially regret jumping the gun and not waiting on something a bit newer, like an E36 M3 or an E46 ZHP.

But hey, what can you do? I know that right now this car is the most practical, and when the time comes, and I keep this as my DD and get something like an M Coupe as my weekend car.
