    Look what I Found today.

I went by a body shop that a friend works at saw this M3 sitting on the frame rack.

The story is that it was 1 of 2 factoy built race car that one some big races in its day. Somebody found it and brought it to the states and is haveing it restored. It has built in air lift for pit stops, spinoffs, Massive breaks. They were putting in new rocker panels, quarter panels and trunk floor, they had been hit a fixed a few too many times. Please excuse the crappy phone pics, that is all I had with me at the time.

I will try to get finished pics if I can. They plan on fully restoring it.

I saw a nice old school porsche with those mirrors and a lowered suspension. Looked very sporty but mpt overdone.

This guy has no idea what he saw. That car is legendary. I hope they do right by it when they "restore" it.

VERY COOL. you need to get a ton of GOOD pictures of that thing. I wonder how long it has been in the U.S.?

those are the same mirrors I have on my car. I think they are from around the 1988 season- later ones had the air inlets on them.

I wonder what car it is? #wise?

I will try to get some better pics and yes they are restoring it correctly, The quarters had been damaged a few times and repaired so they wanted it like new. I only repeated what I was told by the guy that was working on it. I admit I dont know the full history on the car but was just trying to pass along the excitement I had when I saw the car. The shop that its at is well known for restoring cars of this caliber. There were several older porsches and even an old Ferrari.

It is definately a rare find for sure - but 1 of 2? They aren't that rare. A few years back I was at a friends' shop and a factory built E30 M3 racer was in there for some work. I got to poke around and get a good look at it (I could kick myself for not having a camera with me). The car had center locking hubs, airjacks, and no VIN chassis stamp in the channel at the back of the engine comparment, just below the windshield. The "history" I was told about that car was that it spent its first couple seasons in ETCC then raced exclusively in Italian Touring Car in the early-to-mid 90s before being brought to the states where it was being used in club racing events by a private owner. It was powered by a 2.3L good for 300bhp and redlined just over 9,000rpm.

I sure would like to hear that run 8)
