I got my car repainted and dont know who may have taken pics of my car or whatever, the shop owner told me that he had many offers and questions as to if I was selling it. Maybe they took pics? I dont know, all I know is is that the paint job is flawless.

Because Mariano... and don't take this the wrong way...

Many people who purchase cars of distinction like this are not internet whores who show everyone everything. They may not take too kindly to the fact random people are taking photos of their private car/collection and posting them on the internet. It's the same reason, for the right customer with the right car, VSR will close its doors for an entire day to ensure nobody gets into the shop to see what they are working on.

When you're investing the amount of money it takes to purchase a car like this... or a boat, or a plane... whatever... most often people don't want them splashed all over the internet.

We're not talking about a run of the mill e30 here. Be it e30 m3, or otherwise.
Also, it's a bit more important that a simple repaint of your car. I know you take pride in your car, but we're refering to the restoration of a car that has the potential to have serious herritage/resale value/history. The real buyers of these cars, not some internet forum junkie, will be extremely critical of how the restoration was conducted. Why were the OEM panels replaced? How was the frame prepped? How well did the shop replicate the original stitch welding? Etc. Etc. Etc.... Those points mean a lot.

    Spend 2 hours reading/looking through this... http://www.hotrodbuilders.com/ProjectDetails.aspx?33

Again, just my thoughts, nothing more, nothing less.

Good point. But shouldnt the potential seller be honest about the body work anyways? I do see your point though.

I wouldn't tell anyone where this shop is at or you may find some of those parts will come up missing . . .

It's not like the guy is claiming it's his car, or trying to gain anything by posting the pics. I say keep 'em coming!

All I wanted to do was to pass along the excitement I had when I saw the car. I just stopped by to drop of some paint to a buddy that works there for a door he was painting for me. He said "hey you need to see this, I know how you like BMW's." I was like holy crap, mid if I take some pictures of it and they said go ahead, so I did and just passed them along.

Very nice find. That's the toy of an individual who has arrived.

I would want unveil honors myself if it was mine, so I see Lang's POV. Either that or hide it in some personal museum.

The person that has the dollars for that most likely does not run in our lowly circle. There have been a few Ex-DTM cars that have been shipped here over the years. I was reading about one that was purchase about 4 months ago, maybe that is it.

Excuse my ignorance here, but can someone inform me on the specifications of this car? Is this the one they call "BMW M3 (World Touring Car Championship)" in my BMW book? The one with 320hp and 5 sec 0-60?

                          There wasn't just one car.
You can't say "Car #45 was the WTC Champion".
Collectively between all of the factory built E30 M3's, they amassed the number of wins to be given that title.

As for what HP the above pictured car has, that is hard to tell without knowing finite details of what year the car was campained, how many times the engine has been rebuilt/replaced/etc..

I wasn't trying to say the original poster was wrong in posting these photographs. I understand the pure excitement at seeing something like this in person. (I'm jaded as I get to see stuff like this far more often than most) What I was trying to discourage was the requests/ideas that the original poster should continue to go back to the shop and take in-process photos of the cars rebuild.

                          Hope that helps clarify,
                          Chris

Dude I saw a dyno graph of a Gp A engine--it had ridiculous VE all the way to 9000 rpm. No dropoff on the torque curve. I was astounded.

Everyone tells me S14's suck and should be replaced with S50's.
I think you are lying... BMW had no idea what they were building.. bunch of loser-hack mechanics!

R3V Engine swappers know better than BMW AG!

Haha, I just looked at the graph again. It had 284 whp at around 7900 rpm, and the dyno pull stopped at 8000 rpm or so.

Of course, its life is probably measured in hours. The regular S14 is not nearly as volumetrically efficient up top, especially without headwork and CAMZZZ. Still... very impressive (to me anyway).
