That was relatively wet conditions though, as I believe the BMWs are running a bit more wing than everyone else at this race. Anyone know the expected weather? Only 3 hours to go now, so not much of a wait to go.Yeah, I thought the same thing. But did you see the results of Practice session 3? I expected them to both do well in quali after getting P1 and P4.

Just an FYI for anyone wanting to stay up and watch the GP, Formula One.com has live timing that is about ten minutes faster than Speed's airing of the race. The Live Timing thing is pretty cool too.- Trey

Pretty good race, a well-earned win by Alonso. Kubica was equally impressive as well. Räikkönen certainly woke up this weekend, much too late to salvage another WDC.
Safe to say that Renault won today's event, hell of a drive by both drivers.- Trey

Awesome race indeed, I wish you saw overtaking like this at every race! I am glad Toro Rosso took how a chunk of points again as well. Great race, if only Massa had come out slightly stronger. Just hope that his contact with Bourdais doesn't yield any penalty.Comment

As mentioned during the race, Hamilton made a comment to the press a week or two ago about not making anymore hasty moves on the track. Well, he just ditched that whole idea going into turn 1 at the start of todays' race. I'm not sure what he was thinking (or if he was thinking to begin with), but with the point lead he had going into this weekend he could afford to play it cautiously - especially considering Massa started 5th.
And speaking of Massa - he's just as guilty for his move on Hamilton. Two wheels off the track with his nose at about the sidepod of Lewis' car when going in. LH had the lead and should've ceded the position to him.....but since he's down in the points a bit I guess one can be anxious to gain a spot, especially on your arch nemesis. Each respective driver made a brainfart move and were punished for it with the drive-thru penalty. Thank you race officials.
Either way - it was a good race, bravo to Alonso and Renault. There wasn't even a safety car to 'help' get the win. It was all about staying out of trouble and going quick. Not exactly a fluke. Ditto to Kubica & BMW. The Pole is still mathematically in the hunt for the title (a stretch I'm sure but good nonetheless).

Fun one to watch.
Funny thing. Yesterday when I was watching quali, my wife says to me, "if Ferrari and McLaren always win, what's the point for these other guys?"
And then the first turn - all the red and silver cars getting clusterfucked and Kubica and Alonso squirt past and start running away.
And Lewis and Massa have their troubles. And Kovi blows up.
So I told her - that's the point. MM and SF may have the best cars, but you just never know . . . .Current Cars2014 M235i2009 R56 Cooper S1998 M31997 M3Comment

Agreed. Massa's move against LH was much too aggressive. I was glad to see the stewards not try to shortchange Hamilton, and simply give both drivers the exact same penalty. I wasn't about to listen to more of the "FIA only rules towards Ferrari" crap, that died out when Schumacher left. At this point (as we have seen,) anything is possible, but my vote is for Massa to take the WDC. We shall see though.- Trey

Well Massa was given a drive through for his move on Hamilton, Hamilton was given a drive through for his move on Kimi and the rest of the field for that matter.
I dont agree with the 25 second penalty to Sea Bass. That was just a racing move... but we did only see one angle of that one... who knows.
