I got offered a NICE E21 today for CHEAP...

What do you guys think about E21's? This guy I know has an '83 320i, that he offered to sell me for $500. There is some kind of problem with the charging system, but it has a new starter and alternator, he's going to put in a new battery today and have a mechanic look over the rest. It's got a damn near perfect body, and could use a little interior work. I've always like E21's, but I don't know. I could buy this car right now and do some work to it right off the bat, since I'd have the money.

What do you guys think I should do?

They're no e30. I don't really like the look of them too much; although every one I've ever seen has been a POS.

Don't get rushed into buying something just because it's a good deal.

You're always talking about these dreams/big plans or whatever for your future e30. Do that.

You're right, Bill. That's what got me into the last mess with the car I just parted out.

My uncle has one, it is a cool classic BMW, but feels old. If you drive it and like it, buy it. Price is right.

Personally, I think they generally look too OLD, but jbob's (the first one) is so freaking awesome.

Someone's friend had an e21 with black rims, a ricer muffler, and (I think) alpina stickers.

If you guys remember what I'm talking about, I think that one was pimp shit.

It's not like it wouldn't be possible to do the same, only with a E21.

Wheels, suspension, clean it up, and turbo it!
A Project E21 would probably be more unique.

buy this car.... good e21 will be rare in some years and you said the chassis is very good. the engine is no problem but good chassis will be rare.

if i had this offer in germany i would buy it immediately.

I definately agree with ACNICO! Ive been looking for a clean E21 here in germany for a long time. I had one years ago with a 2.7 stroker and motronic from a E30! tons of fun, and much more unique! you can do just as much to one of them, and they will be worth some money in the near future.

They are nice in euro 323i form. They look too clunky and dated otherwise.

Nearly bought a 323 for $750. It had a cracked head, which I guess is a common issue with older small sixes.

i would also buy a e21 315... important is the chassis. engines are no problem.

                            Josh,
E21s are ugly. Don't settle for one just because you can afford it; you can't drive it until December anyhow. You know you want an e30. Just keep savin' and lookin' bro.

You guys are right, I'm not going to buy it. I've got too many sweet parts I've stockpiled for my E30 anyway... (Perfect euro grilles, leathr ebrake and shift boots, E36 leather ebrake handle, AC Schnitzer pedals, airbag knee bolster)

It's just such a good deal. If anyone is interested...
