I see your original post is still unchanged, are you going to do that or should I call Boyd and have them deal with you?

Brendan, I am almost thinking that Boyds is more at fault here.
Think of this: A car rolls in to get lowered, etc. Spray can fenders, lots of obvious frame damage...and those fools agreed to work on it at all? Fuck NO, I say!
Should have shown him the door immediately, much less taking his money and doing the damn job. Their site shows "New Management" which almost always means "hey fuckers, we are not making any money here, so the manager quit and took all of the qualified help with him" so maybe they were desperate enough to actually do this and leave themselves open to liability like this...
Very dumb move, Boyds, dumb.Comment

Luke, if you only knew this "kid"...
By the sounds of it and from what I know, he probably told them he was "rebuilding" the car, and in previous posts, it sounds like they asked him about an accident, and I am sure he wasnt 100% open and honest there. Just like he hasnt been with us on here about the situ. He sells insurance for cryin out loud.
Should Boyds have done the work, maybe not. But either way, they did not bend his frame and bumper.
They way that shop works, they are almost blind, never seeing the car until its on the rack. Shocks and springs is not that hard, nor intense of a job.sigpicComment

Curt, my post was supposed to be somewhat sarcastic.
You need more coffee.
I am snowed in, got the E30 about 10 feet into the street. When I am bored, anything can happen.Comment

This thread has gotten ridiculous.
Fiddler, you should go back to taking turns defending and shitting on Kate, it suits you much better than "Defender of the Downtrodden Business Owner." This is a small blip in an average day for anyone who owns their own business, and has no doubt been completely forgotten by anyone except for the participants in this thread. If you really think that some single random thread tucked away in a small forum in the middle of the intarwebz is going to make or break this guys' business, you need to get outside more.

If it helps with "weeding" out the clientele, I assure you he would appreciate the info, I would. If only to know that this customer is on the "VIP" list. This thread has gotten ridiculous.

I guess that makes sense if you're under the assumption that the business owner has no idea that he has an issue with our boy Spec. I'm gonna guess any phone call notifying him that Spec made an unhappy post on the internet isn't going to come as a big shock to him. Threatening to make said phone call is just stupid.

I'm simply trying to make clear my frustration with Spec's attitude about this situation. I don't feel any need to defend Boyd specifically, only the general independent BMW shop (much like the one I work for) against such ignorant and self-righteous behavior. Obviously Spec has a dim view of automotive repair and as such should approach with an attitude of "Here's what I think but I'm willing to learn" rather than his "I'm right and the professionals are wrong."
"I did my own body work and now, when I had the car lowered, the suspension geometry looks strange; could that be related?" = Good Attitude.
"I took my perfect car to a shop to get work done and they broke it, I got screwed. They accused me of crashing the car which is bullshit. Except I lied and I did crash the car, but I got everything fixed and it's now perfect after the accident. Except that's wrong too because I just put a new fender on and never had the body checked even though there was very visible frame damage. But I'm still not going to accept any responsibility." = Spec's Attitude.'89 325is S50 Track Montser
