I think they are on the right track,... im not saying id buy a hyundai. but i wouldnt buy a new 80k dollar bmw either. ill always be a used car guy i think. i remember the days when honda cars were a joke. they make a pretty damn good product now and i suspect hyundai will also.
at least they are starting with a rear wheel drive platform

I do give them their credits for trying. They have been in the bussiness for some decades now, so they are aware of what makes quality. It's just their chosen target market that I find amusing.

Sounds pretty exciting for what it is. 0-60 in under 6 seconds, RWD, 6spd manual, lighter than 5 series, cabin bigger than a 7 series, pretty nice looking interior. Only thing I don't like is the exterior, but I'm sure it could look better in a different color.

Competition is a good thing. Maybe other manufacturers will step up their game.

Oh I'm sorry, I guess the Hyundai needs to be priced at 100k to be worthy. Are the others just overpriced snob cars? If they can deliver the goods at a lower price point, then I surely won't be complaining. They certainly seem to be doing well with their other cars.

In my opinion i think they are all makeing cars better than the german cars now a days!! i think BMW, MEC, ect think they have the reputation witch they sort of do for the good nice cars they had in the past! but now they are just makeing shit. BMW only maid a cuple of nice good quality models, and those japanese cars in the past were kinda cheap but now their really nice!!

go drive a kia spectra, or hyundai elantra and then go drive a toyota corolla.

the corolla's interior feels much better, even though in all cars they have problems with things just not fitting right, falling apart, etc.

drive a hyundai tiburon, and then drive a scion TC, sure, the tiburon may be a little faster, but that's not what i'm trying to compare.

I had no confidence driving the hyundais or kias simply because it felt like the steering wheel was going to come off while I made a turn

I had an optioned out Hyundai Sonota for a rental. I liked it a lot. I would consider buying one if they were just a bit cheaper.

They are touting the new Tiburon to be the performance equal of the e46 M3. It was the goal of hyundai to produce a low cost e46 m3... we'll see how it does when it comes out.

Not a bad looking car, not a fan of the rear end, reminds me of another car with a horizontal line from one tail light to another. I don't see a reason why another manufacturer can't produce a car that would be just as good if not better than the rivals. I am going to wait until the rwd manual coupe comes out though. Everybody knows new MB's and BMW's aren't what they used to be in terms of build quality, and even then some of the 5s - 8s were a nightmare with so much electronics etc... We are in 2008, technology and R&D is out there so more power to them to make this, might only push the big 3 to improve their own products.

                            my 2 cents.

Toyota had by FAR the most recalls in 2007 with Honda in second, hardly good quality. Hyundai is making cars offering the same features for much cheaper than the Germans, but you have to ask where is the money really being saved? Are they cutting way back on testing, engineering and inspections, something BMW is very big on?
