"I" harness/ecu/other goodies will fix that.

Yes, stock eta's do suck. No point in arguing that. I think gas mileage is just an excuse. In my opinion...

It's not just the fact that they are electronically limited. The top end is different in that it has a different cam and only has single valve springs. Also, the intake has longer, more narrow runners. This makes for less flow at top end, but the velocity of the air entering the combustion chamber is higher at any given engine speed (but it's efficiency dies at higher RPM). If you just throw an i harness, ecu, cylinder head and intake, you will yield a low compression ratio and it will likely not be much more powerful. Also, if you do that then the motronic is designed to operate a 2.5L instead of 2.7.

Just as a note: I'm no expert with these hybrids, I haven't built one or anything. I believe there are other minor parts that you need for the swap like injectors (fuel rail?), and it's possible that the toothed wheel on the crank is different. For reliable info you'll have to search and find people who have done this.

Yeah, TwoJ's you are right in both posts. You can run as little as just the "i" harness and ecu if you want, but it wont run great.

Best way is (like you said) swap everything from the "i".

For a better compression ratio, mill the head.

Buy an eta to drive daily, not to hot rod. I have an eta daily driver and a 328is turbo for a fun car. Don't waste your time with an eta engine.. Chip it, springs/shocks/sways and drive the hell out of it.

                    hey, thanks for the link.
So I've done some research and it seems that the I head would be the best way to go.

I'm considering putting In my m10 with the 02 block. I won't make oddles of tourque but it will haul plenty more ass than the
                    M20 eta.
i might just until I get the money for the forged internals and the I head. It will probably be supercharged since I went thru so much trouble with turbo and still am.
Thus shell looks amazing from what I can see. Can't wait to get it so I can be mobile again.
I've been lookin for a dd for a while now and what better x
car to use than an e30
                    thanks for the help
