Gents, let's not forget that the 135i can be ordered for $34,900 plus destination. The ones dealers are ordering for their lots are well-equipped and thus near-or-over $40,000, but if you special order an absolute stripper you can have it for $34,900.

I personally wish I could order one as an absolute stripper AND without a sunroof and with cloth seats, but it just isn't meant to be.

Now, the 135tii on the other hand...

Exactly. I wish I could order one with cloth seats, now sunroof and a with a dipstick. But that isn't going to happen.

It is nice to see that that OP's pic of the interior shows that it is a manual transmission. Hopefully, there will be a lot sold that way so I can buy one in about 5 or 6 years.

I currently have an E46 323i and it weighs in at 3150lbs. That is over 200lbs lighter than the 135i. If I had the money, and I don't, I would get a 128i, strip all the extra stuff out of it, stiffen up the suspension and make a track rat out of it. That thing would be an absolute blast to drive. I bet it would be very much like the E30, a bit heavier, but with tons more power. The Z4 Coupe would be my other option. I very much like that car. The roadster just doesn't do it for me. Put put that permanent tin top on it, and now you have something (I very much don't like verts... that just my preference.)

Yeah, agreed - saw a 128i 'vert at Kelly BMW today, along with a 128i and 135i hardtop. Looks better in darker colors, I think the 1 series is as close to a modern E30 as you will get!

All the dealers have them on the Lots. Along with the M3s. If you are a BMW CCA member wait about a month untill they let you use the Club rebate on the car. youll save $500 to $1000. BMW sales have been down for the past 3 months. Only Mini sales are up.
Its still overpriced considering what a Evo or Subi AWD can provide for the same or less.

Ill wait untill the car come off lease and are sold as certified for 1/2 the price.

I think a 3 series got punched in the face to get smaller. But I'd still rock one.

+1. I just drove the 135i sport and it is out of control!!! Get in your car, goto the closest dealer (that has it) and drive the hell out of it. I had once of the salesman come out to out BMWCCA meeting and bring one out. WOW, what a machine. Only complaint was that the suspension was a bit soft. Other than that, its a lil powerhouse. Our dealer also has the new X6 so maybe you can drive that after the 1er. Make it a day of dream. Log off and go drive one!!!

No, you're a dumbass for saying that.

Seriously, get a clue. The E46 M3 and 135i are completely different machines.

^^ I agree that they are completely different machines. Around the track though I think they are finding that the 135i is very close and with some suspension modifications it will beat the old E46 M3. Not too mention the 0-60 times for the 135i are 4.7sec by Car and Driver and a couple of other testers. Plus the E46 M3 is extremely expensive to fix. 135i has the 4 years of coverage. I'm seriously tempted to order a stripped down 135i. Ohh I've been over on 1Addicts.com so I'm all read up on the 135.

I'd actually like to have the 128. Its probably pretty peppy for what it is. I cant wait till they come out used.

the 128i is at least $30k with sound and xenons (the only options I'd want)

M coupes don't have back seats, but with the hatch it might make them just as practical for a lot of uses. What I'm saying here is the 1 series is a nice little bobble, I'd totally sport one, but that price should be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

The M Coupe is not practical.

                            AT ALL.

The 1-Series is worlds more practical, since it has a fold-down rear seat.

You can get into a 128i stripper with Euro Delivery for $26k and change.

BMWs are luxury sport cars. There's nothing luxury about an Evo or Subi. Different markets imo.

I can't help but think the post-lease 135i/335i's are going to be beat to shit and back when they come up for sale.

And whoever thinks 35K$ for a 'luxury sports' car with 300hp is expensive is quite foolish. Pretty reasonably priced imo. You expect them to be 20K? Were not talking about Accords here.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

stripper? does it have roll up windows and cloth seats? I suppose the leatherette might be cheaper really.

Now we're talking! But I can still have a 2002 330ci with leather and cruise missiles for that much.

                                You've failed, salesman.
