i had my e30 parked next to one at the stealer here. it dwarfed my car.

so much for it being the new 2002....

still, its about the only new bmw i could see buying right now.

I am in the process right now of putting together a performance package 130i 3 door at my work. It is going to be one of the demo cars from the dealer I am at.
it is some really nice stuff. the seats are so light, and are even Recaros, and the steering wheel is just wild with the display in the rim. The muffler is also VERY loud for a "original BMW part"
I will snap a few pics at work tomorrow and post what is done so far.

The 135i is so much more sporty feeling inside than the 335i. I have driven quite a few in the last 2 months and the 135i is really a ton of fun to drive with the DSC turned off.

BTW- I test drove the new X6 xdrive with the 3.0 diesel today. it is actually very sporty feeling for the size and weight of it.

Man that Performance program is so awesome. Im surprised it took BMW that long to set something like that up. Im eager to see the pics, Mike!

I drove a 6 speed 335i and it was really fast, but it was really detached and you couldnt feel how fast you were going. It was very quiet, and the steering was too light for my taste, but I come from an extreme end of the spectrum haha.

I'm so torn on the new 135i and 335i. The 135i is just not light enough for starters. Less than 100lbs under the sedan, C&D complained. And the 335i, that's another story. I don't want to repeat my mistakes as I just returned to an E30 after two years driving and modding a MB C32 AMG (I sold it with 435HP/420TQ). A good friend of mine went from a similarly prepped C32 into a 335i, and after modding it he says it is just like the C32 was - too heavy and detached even though it's very powerful.

Also, the one time I saw 165MPH and was still accelerating hard, I decided it was just too dangerous to own a car like that. You want something that you can hear rev to redline without so significantly endangering your life (and drivers license)!

picked up the "performance guide" for the 135 at the stealership the other day. im extremely impressed. i think ill wait a couple years and look for a lease return then go nuts with the parts. all the CF in there plus the cool steering wheel and the huge wheels you can get for it is sick.

-the e82 (1er) is really about the size of an e36, and yes are too heavy (3300-3400 lbs).
-BUT they are a blast to drive. The 6-speed 135i HAULS ASS.

-I have to wait until one pops up CPO but I'm looking...

so, here are a few pics of a few of the parts. funny thing is even here in Germany we cant seem to get all the parts in!!!
                WTF?
                on to the pics.

the wheel can do a ton of stuff- including record 1/4 mile times.

small piece of the CF trim

cost is 600 euros I think, but damn is it loud and such a nice tone!

                CF Honda boy stuff

these things kick ass!!! are Recaros, and I saw them in a catalog the other day for 1100 euros from some tuner- even have sideairbags in them as well as the pressure sensitive mats.

Someone should buy one in Mexico, and bring it up here. It shouldnt be that hard. I see them in San Diego with Baja California plates all the time.

just from first impressions it seem like its muc more of a throw back to e30 coupes since the 3 series has evolved into a larger more refined car, not that the 1 series isnt refined but its more go cart ish then the current 3 series. the body styling gives me the mental image of a e30 in a wind tunnel blowing a million degrees of heat to have the the boxy old school structure with the sleeker more modern flowing lines over it. like every think you like about the e30 the things you wish you didnt like about the z3 and a good dose of what makes the current models so appealing.
