UPS will ship up to 125 lbs. and I believe FedEx is the same.

I'd get a rubbermaid tub that's a bit larger than the diff itself, then wrap the diff in an old blanket or old towels. Then place it in the tub and put the lid on. Then drill about 10-20 holes through the edge of the lid and the basin, and use a bunch of heavy-duty zip-ties to keep the lid on.

I just used to put them in thick walled boxes. Make sure to use plenty of tape though.

Problem with that is they leak. Shipping companies don't like oil stained cardboard boxes nowadays. Wooden box with handles? I have one built just for cylinder heads.

just make sure it's not loose inside whatever you pack it in or you'll lose it.

when I've shipped a couple diffs I take some 1x4 and cut them about 1 foot long and nail 4 of them together making a small frame to sit the diff on, I then secure the diff to them and slid the whole thing into a U-hual small packing box, and then slid another box over it. Make sure there are no chances of leaks if it goes by airshipment, as you can incure some large fines if it leaks fluids out.
Ups will ship them find and so will fedex, just drain all the fluid and let it sit on the drain plug end over night to let the rest of the fluid drip out.

This is a great method. I have had two diffs shipped to me EXACTLY this way, and shipped one this way myself --- good results every time.

true, but u can grab the skid to lift it. ve dealt with numerous 'boxes and diffs like this. but yeah, handles would be, well, handy.
