          Is your paint so bad that it actually needs to be repainted? There is nothing like the original paint job. Unless you totally stripped your car down to the bare shell you can't heat it up to those extremely high temperatures to get that rock hard finish. If it has some bad spots I would just touch it up. I had an burgundrot 86 325 once that had badly oxidized paint on the roof so I obtained a can of original vintage burgundrot BMW paint and had a guy I know paint the roof for me. It turned out perfect.

                The roof definitely needs to be resprayed, at least one fender has been resprayed, and the hood has been redone as well. There's a chip where you can see the original paint underneath, whoever repainted it didn't sand it down and just shot on top of it. So, the original paint has already been christened if you want to call it that.

                    I'm not a big fan of it, so I'll let the E36 M3's keep that color.
