    Parts Cleaner?

I'm starting to tear down my M30 block to regasket it, All the timing chain covers and stuff are all very dirty and grungy. I'm thinking about buying some type of parts cleaner either a media blaster or something else. I just don't feel like scrubbing with a bruss for who knows how many hours to remove the grime(1/2 deep in some spots below the cam gear).
Any one know of a cheap unit that would do the job?

      low octane gasoline.

very cheap per gallon (vs cleaner concentrates), and a extremely effective solvent.

What about one of these http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=35740 I've got a lot to clean from the timing covers, to the valve cover and lots more. so it would probally be worth investing in something.

Honestly man, just go get a few gallons of really cheap gasoline. It works better than just about anything.

Good budget unit, does it have a filter in it? I use a small Kerscher 220v power washer.

Gasoline? Jordan wow wheres the EPA? It's too rough on your hands and gloves don't stand up well to it either.

Kerschers are power washer and they are expensive here in the US. but in Germany they are inexpensive at 82 euros but they are 220v not 110v. Will be sold at my yardsale next month. I have debated keeping it so when I get a garage It will have 220v.

ok I'll look in to some small power washer prices, Does it work pretty good? or do you still have to scrub out some of the spots by hand?
When I pulled the upper cover today I was just using a screw driver to pull slabs of crud off.

Hose it down with cleaner let it soak for awhile and then spray it with power washer works great on all external items.

I have been using Simple Green to clean all the extremely dirty engine parts on my parts car before I sell them. It works great. Spray a lot on and let it soak in for a while, then hit it with a high pressure hose. Repeat as needed.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Castrol super clean - watch out for your hands - It will strip off a layer of skin if you have girlie hands like mine....

I used laytex gloves for the first time when helping ryan put him euro M30 in his e28 - didn't work all that well - they tear, and you have to put ona new pair, and you sweat alot - the gloves hold it in...But they are nice to have around for the really greasy stuff...
