fair enough, i am far from "out of the woods" so to speak, all told i've got about 40k of debt myself, but +-1/2 of that is student loans and car loans that i'm in no hurry to pay off as i'm using to build & maintain my credit anyway. i suppose a rent-to-own can do the same thing. renting furniture is just something that never really occured to me, but if it works for you more power to ya. sorry, ot...

you should look into it dude. its a pretty good deal. i rented used stuff and once i shampooed all the bodily fluids off the sectional i ended up with a nice piece at a really good price

I'm going to NYC for the 4th of July with mine I guess. I would just drop it in savings but I kind of feel like that would defeat the purpose of it. Almost feel obligated to put it back into the economy somehow.

That's exactly what you're supposed to do. I mean they can't tell you how to spend it but it makes sense to put it back into the economy.
