To just get it running? Just some larger injectors and fuel pressure regulator, enough to supply the extra required fuel. A guy here in eugene converted his 91 GTI. Similar enough EFI systems so it should be pretty much the same. He swapped the 19lb injectors for 24lb units, installed a 4 bar FPR and that was pretty much all he needed to supply the extra fuel needed.

He has been running around for over a year like that just fine. The only drawback is that there is only one E85 station here in eugene. He cant take that car out of town unless he knows he can get fuel at his destination.

It's about $1.70 a gallon at the few stations that sell it up here.

Would it not be able to run gasoline with the larger injectors and FPR?

Yeah...but they receive better health care benefits and we don't. So it should be a trade-off.

If you can afford the car, you can afford the fuel.

Bring on 5+ dollars a gallon, keep everybody off the damn roads

It would run horribly, sputtering, plug foulingly rich on the stock ECU. Though dual maps on MS would make it a snap.

Up until about a week or so ago I was paying $4.10-$4.15 a gallon for 91 octane (the highest avail. in Calif.). Now I have a stock chip so regular unleaded will be the flavor of choice for a while. Filled the tank for $3.89 a gallon this morning.

I praise my eta every fillup. the chip is now only used for weekend fun drives.

$3.99 in D.C. If I go really far out to Western MD its $3.76.

These prices are for 93 Octane.

EDIT: And Josh there's nothing better to post about! :)
