i books just have worse processors and downgraded everything.... just read up on apple.com
Since I'm not looking to play games and have the top of the line everything an ibook is fine? I thought you were saying less quality in an ibook not less performance.
Which part of "horrible reliability" and "major warranty issues" don't you get? These things are cut rate in every aspect. The touchpad seems to fail on almost every one of them I've seen. The CD roms have issues, and the screens seem to crap out with alarming regularity.
You already sound like you're sold on one though, so knock yourself out.

Charlie, stop spreading misinformation.
The iBook line has since been revised twice since the warranty failures occured due to the logicboard problems of the previous iBook G3's. Moreover, the Tibook is no longer a tibook, and has not been for almost a 2 years since apple moved construction from Ti to Al.
:-D
Sorry, I don't keep up on the fruity computers as well as I should, I like girls.
Sucks that they went away from titanium though, that's a wicked cost cutting move.

However, if you want to play games, don't buy an iBook. Christ man, he is right when you are buying the bottom of the line consumer level laptop, because you are. if you want a gaming machine anyway, you shouldn't be looking at a mac. That's just rediculous.
When I was looking for a laptop, I read a post on here by Charlie saying that Dell refurb was the way to go. I ended up getting a Dell Inspiron 9100 with 1GB ram, dvd/cd rw, 15.4 inch uxga screen, 3.0 HT P4, 60 GB HD, integrated wireless card and tons of other stuff for around $1700. The laptop has been perfect so far, and I'd definetly recommend buying through www.delloutlet.com They have the best deals I could find anywhere.
