Would there be an interest in CF body panels here?

I learned that a few people in one of the other departments at work know how to make fiberglass vaccuume molds and use them to make very high quality carbon fiber castings.

The idea I have is to mold the hood, decklid, and front fenders and make them available if we get enough interest.

We're also looking into intake manifolds :)

I'm assuming the costs would be right around $500 for the hood, a bit more for each fender, and a bit less for the deck lid.

btw, 2x twill carbon something something i could get more details.. i dont know how this shit works I'm just the business man.

    What about sunroofs?

I think fiberglass parts would sell well also.

id be down for a hood, fenders, and a sunroof. ONLY if its OEM fitment(ie: not giant gaps or warping)

I want a hood that fits well, and without a ton of gel coat (less weight). I'd rather paint it anyway... if you could come through with that, I'm down. :)

I would also be interested in a high quality OEM fit hood and fenders. I wouldnt be able to deal with any warpage because I would also paint mine.

OEM fit is important for this, I would like to get hood, fenders and a rear deck lid when ever I get rich.

well... ill tell you right now that i would buy another hood, decklid and sunroof from you if the fitment was OEM with no warpage and the weave was good...

also (depending on what your fitment is like and if you would be willing to make custom pieces) i wold like some custom parts made... i guess ill pm you about that depending on how everthing else goes...

I would buy a hood, and probably sunroof panel, depending on price/fitment.

well i want carbon fiber and it all depends on the fitment and quality of the product that will determine me purchasing it NOT price. so get some stuff CF going so i buy it i really want a hood.

I think that is more of the fact that CF hoods come with 10 lbs. of gelcoat on them, while most fiberglass hoods are reletively unfinished since they all get painted.

well if there is a glass hood that had a smooth surface and stock fit I would probably just get that. i just want light, dont care about the look of the weave.

I was just trying to figure out if it's worth investing in this or not. I need to replace my hood and trunk lid anyway, so I figured, hey why the hell shouldn't I replace them with CF and make some cash of selling them too.

It isn't something that would take off until early next year anyway.

the front bumper on my car was about 30 lbs, and the stock hood was about 40 lbs, fenders combinesd were about 10 lbs. not all those parts total up to about 24lbs total (that is for the cf hood, fenders, and bumper)

almost 60lbs off the front of the car.
