I would expect to see them more in the heavy equipment industry - but unlikely in the auto industry, unless an OEM picks them up. They're just a bit too ugly for a car.

Yeah, they look funny. I wonder if throwing a thin sidewall on the tires would affect it...

If they ever make a production version, I bet it has a sidewall.

I saw these long ago too, I would think production units would have a sidewall as well...
too much of a visual departure otherwise

I think if things were turned around a bit and we were driving around on tweels, we would find the "new" pneumatic tires a far better approach.

sometimes people invent shit just to be different, and they also call it "technology".

x2, they reffered to them as a "tweel"

When I worked at the headquarters for an international construction company these where considered for use in trash quarries/dumps areas. They were quickly taken off the table because of the junk they would accumulate in a muddy environment.. now if they had sidewalls and my team wasn't aware of it or if they don't come with sidewalls at all, I'm not sure.

why would they not just put sidewalls on them for increased rigidity? they look like they don't take impact so fantastic anyways because of how the force is distributed only to the direct point impacted... needless to say I don't think they would handle spirited driving as well as... more conventional rubbers.
