    Rear Sub-frame Brace

The e30 sub frame bolts are (after a fashion) held in double shear. There are plates that triangulate off of the belly pan to rocker panel bead.

    ...Is this enough?

There is some flex back there and I have been told this is slowing things down on track times.

I have seen braces for the rear subs built for the Z3...They look like they were designed by a Briggs and Straton lawnmower engineer.

    The question here is:

Should Evolution Zen / Mason Engineering turn our attention to this and develop The killer rear brace for the E30?

Yes, If all the mason bars upper and lower are put on a car will the planets all align and make my E30 even more uber supercar than it already is. J/K definetly do it.

:hitler: the e30 is already the Uber Kar...

With our chassis braces it becomes the FW-190 of the streets.

I think we'd make it out of unobtainium salvaged from that crashed flying saucer John found behind the barn.

How about a replacement for the subframe made completely of tubular steel with adjustable everything.

Now that would be an elegant solution

How about just a stronger rear mount/brace?

With new/aftermarket bushings, I dont see flex being an issue if the rear is solidly mounted.

And at that, The new braces would not be worth much to someone in the know...

... You and I had a brief talk about tooling cost @ the fest if you recall

It seems that the problem is that with stiff or solid SF Bushings they are twisting around a bit.

The little plates that hold the bolt in double shear to the body lip don't quite do it ( :eeek: New info to me just this past Monday)

I also noticed that all the Z3 bars go under the exhaust. But my car has more than enough clearence for a bar to go above the exhaust, so it wouldn't reduce ground clearence.
