I tell cops what to do, it's actually pretty enjoyable. The work schedule and pay is excellent.

I wake up whenever I want (usually before 11am) and I get to work in whatever clothes I want (which is usually my pajamas, until I have to go run errands)

The only drawback is that being self-employed usually means you never stop working....and this fact is KILLING ME right now. I eat one meal a day, and that meal is usually right after the post office closes, as that's when I get a chance to breathe. During the day I work hard toward making the post office cut-off time. And then after dinner, I work the long-term projects.

I guess another drawback is all the money I have to spend in order to make money. At normal jobs, all you spend is your time and effort. But I have to buy materials, supplies, shipping supplies, drive to and from everywhere, all that on top of normal job duties like opening contracts with new businesses, advertising, marketing, settling prices, etc.

My commute is 1.5 miles each way. Middle management position for a software company, decent money and benefits, but the commute, or lack of, is a big plus especially with gas prices and I can drive home for lunch.

I know people at my job that spend an hour or more commuting, and spending $400.00 a month on gas, insurance, maintenance or on taking the bus.

All I know is I get more done between 9 PM and midnight than I do all the rest of the day.

Working for yourself is great sometimes....most of the time I could make more money flipping burgers.

On average, I'm putting in about 15 hours of real work in a work-week.

But each one of those hours, on average, rakes in about $45.

Some days, like for example, the week before bimmerfest, I put in 100 hours in five days (M-F).

I did not sleep Thursday night, I did not sleep Friday night, by the time I got home from Bimmerfest, I had been awake for more than 55 hours.

Nice! I work for Water now. I've been thinking about applying over at Click. I wouldn't mind a little less time in the ditch and a little more time on a computer. Did you like it?
