I use eMule. It works well but takes a while to get whole CD's. I use it for cds games and programs. Expect a half day to get a whole cd, but it beats getting each song individualy on kazaa.
bittorrents is where its at. go to www.suprnova.com and go to the forums and it will tell u how to download the files. basically any program u want and a lot of cd's. sometimes it takes a long time, sometimes it doesnt. but its worth it.
kazaa is garbage... most of the files are junk, and half of them don't work to begin with.
You just have to download smart and I always get the right file. Either that, or I download about 5 of the same file, keep the best one, and delet the rest. It only takes a few minutes long to download a few more.
I think bittorrent is great, but for some reason, every file I downloaded didn't work. One even gave my computer a virus! Out of about 10 things, none of them worked. So I just went back to Kazaa. Just bad luck I guess.
I just got edonkey beta for mac osX. Have no complaints with it. I have kazaa lite on my gateway, and yea if your looking for a popular song nearly every file is crap and everyone shares the bad file. I liked lite because it set participation level at master and I didnt have to share.
All files ive downloaded on edonkey have worked, and so far havent shared any files. Transfer rates might get low if your not on a popular file but I have gotten upwards of 45k/sec
packetnews.com is definitely the shit. It doesnt take too long to get a hold of, and most all popular CDs, games, apps, and movies are there. I have even found more obscure CDs like RJD2, and blackstarr. Good forums there that help with app extraction and installation.
i use poisoned, im pretty sure its for macs only, but its convenient because when you download a song it automatically pops up in your itunes library and there is another playlist that shows up entitled poisoned downloads that shows everything youve downloaded that on your itunes.
I always use that "mainstream" programs that everyone uses (napster, augiogalaxy, kazaa) simply because: p2p works when there are more people :P
Try limewire. All the times in the past, it has sucked major ass. But that's all I use now. It's not really as fast as I would like, but at least the songs are there, they actually work, and it's easy to use.
I'm weird and run Gentoo Linux, and giFT has served all of my downloading needs for a while. It connects to the Gnuctella, FastTrack (read, Kazaa), and BearShare (or something else...) networks. I'm not sure if they have a windows version.
If you're in Windows, just use NewsGroups. Xnews is pretty sweet, and yes I know you can't get always what you want, but when there is something it's usually worth while, and FAST. The always have the full CD, not just singles. Not sure if you're into that, but hey, try it out. PM me if you need some help setting Xnews up.
