    Something is wrong!!!

We purchased a cherry 91' 318i for my brother and everything seemed right on the car. After 2 days of driving it, the car stalls while in motion and it will turn back on when you turn the key and do the same thing after a while.
We have checked the battery cables, the spark plugs and wires and all is good we thought that maybe the coils?, but I 'm not sure, has anyone had the same problem? it's a little frustrating and he (my brother) needs his car as a daily driver. can anyone chime in.

Power connection or fuel pump/relay related .

Does it just cut out/off or does it stumble a little before it dies ?

it stumbles a little at times, while at a stop light or just on neutral, before it cuts off.

+1 on the relay being the problem. Damn see if Joey has one he can give you. Its either a white one or an orange one. Its not in the fuse box either, its under a little black cover on top of the drivers side fender.

If the whole car is shutting off I would look at the main relay and fuel pump relay - they're under the black cover on the driver's side next to the AFM. the one towards the front is the main relay, the one in the middle is for the fuel pump. you can swap the FP relay with the one on the back (which is for the O2 sensor) and see if the problem goes away. the main relay is wired a little different though.

Hey taylor since you'll be in town on Sat., u think u can give me a hand with my brother's car, I've already had Joey look at it and he was a little confused as to what it was.

On a '91 318 they are under the cover above the engine on the firewall.

Well, I think most of you guys maybe right, but the symptoms continue and now it won't shut off all the way, it will just iddle down like it's about to turn off and the check engine light will go on. maybe I misinformed you guys or george graves maybe right, could it be the ECU? I

I'll replace both of these things and post back later

Thanx for all the quick responses.
