Its depth and breadth of knowledge is outstanding.
It was concise. Now you have two pages that say the same thing; find a good used diff because a high quality new one will cost more than your car.

You said buy new, everyone else said find a good used one.

You suck at explaining your own posts.

SAE 90 or GL-5 is what the Bentley manual says.

But it also says you are only supposed to use the BMW specially formulated stuff as well.

With the poly motor and tranny mounts, the diff whine is so loud now, it comes into the cabin and sounds like I have a supercharger on the car!
                Yes, I do $1500.

Or get a good used one, they're all over hell.

Probably wont quiet down much though, 75 or 80 d mounts will rattle your skull even if it was a brand new e30

right, well after a fresh fill of redline it was still making clutch noise so i tried that other shit like i said and it quieted right down. so its not "always the way to go"

If your car is only vibrating in 2nd and 3rd gear then its not the diff make it vibrate .
It would vibrate constantly if it was the diff .

a diff with zero oil in it will make it approx 1 mile at speeds of about 80mph. then it locks up tighter than rigmasters lips on my cock

                            Ideas?

Flex disc and CSB are fresh, and the tech says all the other parts look good.

                            Get a 2nd opinion?

diff whine is usually at hwy speeds and doesn't really make the car vibrate.. just noisey. possible that it's just the poly mounts. I had some on my 88 325is tranny that i HATED. Tell us more about how the noise comes about and when it started and we'll know more. I doubt your diff is toast.

I think my diff is making noise at low speeds. I've been in a car with a bad pinion bearing, and it was fucking LOUD on the freeway. mine is pretty quiet though.
