They'll change it in the time before production, just like the Z9 was a concept before the 6 series came out.

I do like the idea of a mid-engined BMW, they have always built benchmark vehicles and I'm sure this will be no different. My guess is they will reserve the twin turbo V10 M engine for the top model and offer the run-of-the-mill BMW turbo I6 and V8 in the other two.

I bet it does "end up wearing the M1 nameplate" no matter what they say right now.

Personally, I think it is a beautiful car, but yeah, nothing like the original.

Nothing is ever like the Original.

I'm not liking the concept at all. Imo the r8 looks much better. I'm assuming they'll change the design a multitude of times before releasing it to the public...I hope.

so how many threads do you think there will be about this car before anyone here actually talks to a friend who's uncle saw one in Germany

                      it's a little early but I'm guessing 25
Not that I care, of course.

                            *puts on flame suit*

The original was hideous and so is this one.

BMW fanboism is almost as bad as the Honda/Acura guys.

Ok, what the hell made the original M1 so great? Nothing really, except for the fact that was the first exotic BMW EVER, and ever since. Nazca M12 didn't make to the market.

Original M1 didn't get to prove itself on the racetrack against others. Interior? Exterior? If the original didn't have BMW emblems, it would go down in history like most other early 80's cars that failed to live up to the hype (and most people would probably call it ugly, if Lambo or Ferrari had built it), just like the M1. The only truly amazing part of the original M1 was the engine and the chassis, but how many people ever got to experience the full throttle of an M1? Exactly.

So congrats to BMW, for bringing a "classic" back and hopefully this one will be able to prove everything that original M1 didn't.
