Is 200 HP possible with bolt ons?

Assuming 168 HP from the 2.5 Liter engine as a baseline, although most engines have some wear and tear and aren't putting out that much HP anymore, let's assume that number as a baseline for the sake of argument.

Is it possible to get 200HP?

    Things like:

ECU Chip (Dinan claims 14 HP, but I'm skeptical)
    Cold air intake/K&N filter
    Headers
    Exhaust
    MSD type spark multiplier
    Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
    Bigger AFM
    Bigger injectors

What engine mods work and which ones don't?

Please post your real world experiences with bolt-ons.

I'd like to do an engine swap someday, but the cost is prohibitive and I don't want to get rid of a perfectly good low mileage motor.

Turbocharging is not an option here in Kalifornia due to smog, although a Supercharger might be smog legal, but again, lots of money and not an option right now.

Is it possible to add 32 extra ponies for under $1000?

Is it possible to add 32 extra ponies with just bolt ons and without forced induction and without swapping cams?

    Thanks.

Lies. All you have to do is bolt on a new crank, cam and pistons/rods.

The machine shop will take care of the rest.

I second that. It will take more than bolt ons.:|

So what can someone realistically expect with a Jim C/Mark D/ Dinan Chip?
These guys claim about 14-16 HP, but like I said, I'm skeptical of those numbers.

          How about Headers?
          MSD type spark mulipliers?
          Cold air intake?
          Exhaust?
          Modified AFM?

Or all of these a waste of money?

200 hp is obtainable NA with an M20B25/90, but not without some head/cam work among other things.

I'm putting out about 210 in Franken Kar. The street cost of this power plant would be about $7000.

for a baseline... my eta with Triflo exhaust, jimc chip, kn intake..... wait for it......wait for it......

100.2hp on the forth run out of 5. The other 4 runs were all sub 100. Granted it was an eta but just shows you you have a long way to go to get 200hp from an m20

horespower doesn't matter just strip the interior and your good to go......kinda. just do lots of weight reduction and the little amount of power that it has will feel alot better. i'm the guy who wastes all of his money on bolt ons, in the end your car sounds cool, buts maybe only .5 seconds faster. the 130lbs of weight reduction that i did made the biggest improvement and its was 90% free.

Have you ever driven a well sorted m30 car? It wasn't nearly as nose heavy as every one seems to claim....

                          Yes, I've driven several original S.A. M Technik 333s.

Not so much that they were nose heavy (plenty of ballast added) they are just PLAIN heavy.

The e30 chassis was desiged arount the M10 power plant and with the s14 (in full race dress) ran like a raped ape...hence one of the most successful factory race machines ever built.

The M20 isn't all that bad (especially if you tuck it under the cowl by about 400mm) but the M30s are just to heavy for the chassis dimentions.

maybe 10hp if you are very lucky and have a custom tune to get the most out of them
