Not gonna read all this shit but.........I've always loved BMW's and boxy sedans. Once I realized building a Datsun 510, basically everything was going to be custom I started to look elsewhere. (My dad used to race a '67 Datsun Fairlady 1600.)

Then I went and drove an E30 and that was it. And this is coming from a sportbike rider.

Sadly the real reason I got hooked is that ugly son of a bitch cruising on top of the water in my avatar. My friend let me drive the piss out of it one night in a huge parking lot.And I was already in the proccess of buying a new car when my friend got one and it was exactly what I was looking for 6-cylinder, five speed, rwd,and if you get the right one you get an lsd for your money. Oh and I come from a Chevy household so I got to piss my dad off.

I saw a 318is parked at a european auto shop and it sat there in the corner rotting for years ever since I was like 13. Always loved the way it looked. So finally after shopping craigslist many a months I got my $50 318i and it was love from then on!!

A board members car that I used to always see at Autox's
Alex. His car always seemed badass and that was before It had the 285's on it.

After growing up in a Volvo 245DL family, I always looked down on the "stupid ppl" who spent oodles of $ on more pricier cars like BMW's and MB's. So when I graduated HS, my pops gave me the cocoa brown, rusted thru family wagon.

Fast forward 3 years after I smashed up my 90 Protege, I swore I'd never own another car with plastic bumpers or styrofoam in the bumpers as reinforcements. I was stuck without a car but I noticed a small import shop selling a customers early 80's 320i. I asked the shop owner for the keys, but he suggested I take a look at another customers car, an 86 325es.

After having it inspected and taking it for a spin, I was hooked!

I kept the 325es for a year, then sold it when I got offered a really good price for it. I then was going to buy an e36, but decided to hold out for a minty e30 325is.

After all I've been thru with this little car, I can honestly say I'll never look at the once-coveted Volvo the same way again. Sure they are more comfy on long trips and cheaper to purchase+repair than a later BMW, they just dont perform, look, wear or handle like an e30

Parents always told me bout how much fun theirs was, '84 318i, and then sold it to afford to have a kid. Dad bought another one when I turned 13, was an 87 325ic red w/ black interior. Grew up riding in that car and learned to drive a stick in it. After toying with hotrods, I decided I wanted a good daily driver for college so I found an e30.

My mom bought an 85 325e brand new for about 24Gz. The car was much better than my uncle's 80 320i which we thought was the shit at the time. The 325e was so smooth and quiet when new. It was also a very sharp car and a big status symbol. I started driving in 90 or so and was looking at new VW Jetta's/Nissan Sentra's but after test driving them they didn't even come close to the BMW. Looked at some 325's but couldn't afford a 325i so I made a deal with my mom. She sold me her car for 5Gz and I made payments on it. Joined the CCA to communicate with fellow enthusiasts, wrote letters, etc. pre internet forum stuff. That's how it all started with me.

In 03' or 04' I needed a car(desperatly). Had about 2k to spend. One day I was thumbin' thru auto trader and saw a black 87 325es with multi lug fakie two peice 17"s and a sweet Ferari finned looking body kit (I'll admit I thought it looked cool at the time). Took my dad to see it/drive it. I was impressed with its amount of pull at its age and mileage. Dad said it seemed pretty sound and had a decient price 'for being a beemer'. Took my buddy to see it one told me that if I didn't buy it he would. Thats all really I needed to hear. Bought it. Slapped a new head on her then smashed the front end in a ditch. On my third one now. Since then my buddy is on his fourth e30 and has gone thru an e36ti and is now rollin an e39 touring. My little bro has an eta and is working on getting his second. I tell everyone that I wont drive anything else.

Years of my close friend Ben (he goes by BenM on here) convincing me that BMWs are excellent cars, and that e30s are excellent BMWs. I still don't have one, but I will in the next couple years, once I'm done sinking money into the Z< money pit, cop bait, but still a nice car

                            Short story: process of elimination.

                            Long story:
When I was about 10 in Russia I saw a blue with grey skirts on dove E34 M5 and was in love with that car since. I kinda forgot about it as I got older but when I was in my last year of highschool, I had a habit of pissing off used car salesmen by walking around their showrooms and sitting in various cars, adjusting seats, shifting gears and flipping various switches.

Then in one of them I came across a blue E34 535i and I couldn't believe that I could have one for 10 grand... I got a silver one later, modded it, got really hooked on the BMW community (specifically the go part of it, not the show). Did my first track day in an M20 525. I then owned a blue with grey skirts on dove E34 M5 which was heaven for about 2 weeks. The rest, well it had its ups and downs - if you've got time to waste I think it's a pretty cool read:

But I digress. I moved to Vancouver, left the M5 in Toronto with the intention of shipping it there but the lifestyle just didn't support the hobby. Even the exceptionally rich had maybe an outhouse that they called a garage. I was also tired of wrenching on a used car and worrying when it would fail me next (especially after the story above, you know what I mean if you read it), or modding it and worrying about whether or not this rusted fucking bolt will come off because there's no turning back at this point and I must have the car ready for monday morning... So I sold it. Picked up a brand new 4Runner V8.

Some time went by and I started to really miss wrenching on cars. I built up a bit of a tool set again, needing to change brakes and a few other things on my fiancee's minivan, which made me jones for hardcore wrenching like a crackhead on a rainy day.

I started looking around for contenders. I kicked around the idea of getting another E34 but I had no need for one. I had the perfect cruiser, I didn't need another big car, I needed something CHEAP and FUN. A Supra enthusiast suggested an AE86. I couldn't find one for sale. I looked at 240SXs but all the decently priced ones were from Ontario and rusted to shit and back. Then someone suggested an E30 and I said those goobery little things, like the one that douchebag Jordan has? Fuck that. Well why not, RWD, light, cheap, you basically know how to do everything on them since it's just a scaled down E34... Hmm, why not indeed?

                            The rest is now history...

Being a 16 year old driver and having a corolla wasnt that much fun. I didn't know how to drive a 5spd and I've always been into cars. I went through the 240sx stage and lost interest fast. Then I was looking at e36's and saw the occasional e30 and one day decided to do a little research on them. Come to find out that They have a 6 cylinder unlike the rest of the POS's running around my school and it's RWD unlike the rest of the POS's running around my school. Looked for about 4 months, went to TN for thanksgiving a drove a new car home after buying it from a family friend who buys at auctions for a living.

Now I still have a little POS DD but its now a RWD 5spd that runs laps around the riced out hondas and toyotas at my school.

                                What made me want one?

my dad had an '88 M5. sold for an '00 E39 imola M5 which was then sold for an '03 jet black M5 he dinan'ed out. He had others inbetween and on the side. (540i/6, E36 325is, E30 M3, E28 535is [with moonroof!) etc etc)

I didnt have enough money for an M5, so i got an e30 instead. That was 7.5 years ago. Had them ever since.
