    Ireland Engineering vs. Supersprint

This was being discussed in the thread about my car, but I figure it deserves its own thread.
I need to put new exhaust on my car because the muffler has a hole in it. I want to go cat back and I have been decideing between getting the IE for $445 or the Supersprint for $600. I don't want anything that is too loud or obnoxious. I was wondering if anybody has soud clips for any of these or any other opions you think I should consider. I don't have too much cash and that is one of the things that is sterring me towards the IE. I also saw the Scorpion sytems for sale on Bav Auto for $450, but I don't know anything about them, any info would be great.

    Thanks
    Derek

Get a universal can like a Magnaflow, Brullen, Borla, etc., for $100-200 and have a guy weld it up to your stock downpipes for less than $50.

ditto, add some decent tips out the back as well.

Is that gonna be better than doing the full cat back? I have the money to do the full cat back.

The Supersprint and IE are going to sound better IMHO. But the magnaflow, brullen, borla, etc. won't sound bad by any means. And they are a fair amount cheaper. It's really up to you. You just have to decide if the extra money is worth it to you.

having a 'custom' setup done is no different from an aftermarket catback, except for the cost, and prettyness.

I like my supersprint, it's quiet while cruising with a slight rumble at idle, and it sounds great above 3500rpm. it's stainless, so it should last a while (mine is at least 5 years old now). it also looks pretty nice, and it bolts right in.

Ive been thinking about this, but what are the main differences between these? Sounds, price, etc? I have my stock one on and it is just tooooo quiet. I dont want to be setting off car alarms or waking up the neighbors but I would definately like something that sounds badass and is definately louder than stock.

                  Any suggestions?

The main difference is... not much except one comes with down pipes and one doesn't. All you need is to cut the muffler off your old down pipes and have the new muffler welded on.

I know the difference between what you suggested and Cat back, i was wondering the difference between the brands you mentioned. (Magnaflow, Brullen, Borla)

If what you said is meant about to brands then nm, and excuse me for not knowing much about these exhaust setups.

Oh, I misunderstood, I'm sorry. I wouldn't say there is a big difference in quality between all the brands, just make sure you get a 100% stainless steel muffler. I'm guessing the differences are just going to be in the sound of the systems.

So can anyone throw some links out to some of the more popular exhaust sounds? I noticed that R3V's media section on exhausts wasnt around.

                          Thanks!

From personal experience, a dynomax super turbo muffler on stock piping with MX headers is SEX! I'd imagine just a good muffler on stock exhaust system would sound good.

AFAIK, there is no real problem with the stock 325i exhaust system. (Not a Honda)

                              About sound clips......

                              Regarding sound clips...

I have the IE cat back and love it. I to wanted something a little bit deeper, but not obnoxious. IE's cat back sure fit the bill (plus I got it for $330 on a group buy). I highly recommend the IE and it's easy to install too, since it uses the stock hangers.

I've never seen or heard anyone with the Scorpion so I can't comment either way on them.

Oh, and about the sound clips..... A while back someone else was trying to make the same decision and wanted to hear some sound clips. So someone posted a link to a sound clip of an IE cat back on an e30. I'm sure the person who recorded the clip was being honest and properly recorded an e30 with an IE cat back, but the sound clip didn't sound anything like the sound I hear whenever I'm driving. So a sound clip might not necessarily be helpful. Unless you've ever heard an IE exhaust, you wouldn't know though. Maybe find someone near you that has one?

                              Good luck
