So that he can have his thread back, pm me or IM me the specs, I am curious to see what you have done

Check autotrader.com. There's some good ones on there for very reasonable prices.. Several in Southern Cali.

Southern Cal should mean a cheap one in good condition. Southern Texas might be a concern because the humidity down there is horrible.
                  Im now E30less.

You obvously have no idea how ignorant the people down here are. Not only the people ,but the city too. The roads down here are horible. Most of the classifieds ive seen online for cars around here are so dirty, its like, the owners are trying to sell a car and they dont even bother to make it look nice by at least cleaning it and vacuuming the interior. Anyways, theres alot of E30s here, but some of them arent in that great shape. Others are pretty okai. Just keep searching.

Humidity is bad in Southern Texas but cars don't get much rust unless they come from Galveston or within a couple of miles from the coast. No snow down here = no salt on the roads = no rust.

If you come look at one in S. Texas look me up.

P.S. I owned 2 e36's before my 2 current e30's. I sold my 300hp '95 M3 and now drive a 190hp 325is. It puts just as big of a smile on my face as my M3 did, for a LOT less money :)

FWIW, not all E36's are overwieght. My bro's 96 318is (a nifty car if I do say so myself, and I do own an E30 M3 as well) weighs in at 2975 or there abouts. Not half bad. I definitely got a kick out of driving it around the last couple of weekends. I almost hate to say it, but that car stock felt better balanced then my old 87 325is, albeit not quite as fast.

that's still over 300lbs heavier than an E30 318is..

of course the M3 is the ultimate E30, so I'd love to have one, but I'll have to deal with my overweight pig for now! ;)

I used to have the same "I don't need an E30 M3, my 325 is fine" mentality because on the surface it seems the E30 M3 isn't that much better but it is. All I have to say is drive a well sorted E30 M3 and decide from there.
