These are only made in China now... the real deal won't sell so they don't make them.

The bottom end is basically a stock configuration.. forged pistons but stock profile. the only other mod on the bottom was drilling the rods for piston oiling / cooling.

ah, that's true - but I was more speaking of long tubes in general - since you've just proven that they *do* make a difference. and my engine isn't stock, so I don't think similar gains are unrealistic. which gives me something to look forward to next year :)

BTW these are available on Ebay for about 160 (I think) shipped directly from the chinks.

You have to hunt a little to find them though, they are exactly the same as the ones going for around $300 shipped.

^If you follow the link you posted earlier, you can get to the company's store. I think they are up to about $180 shipped IIRC from looking last night.

Well, fuck it. I just ordered a set. My stock exhaust leaks like hell, the flex pipe is destroyed, and a new piece is $700 because it includes the cats. I will be getting them next week hopefully and I will let you know how it goes. Cats are for pussies anyway.

And now your new exhaust will leak like hell! Been there, done that. Just make sure they weld up the slip joints, they're worthless.

No... Don't weld the joints very bad idea, there are no leaks what so ever on the car these went on. We did use different Allen bolts and copper lock nuts there though.

And put it all together before you tighten anything...use new studs on the head an OE gasket set and new copper lock nuts with sintered steel washers.

and there are Magnaflow cats for under $100 on eBay (get the dual in/out cat for an e36)

Maybe it's just cause I have the 1st gen set. Mine are tightened all the way and don't seal at all. I have no cat, that's why I was thinking of getting mine welded, it's still 2 pieces

If you weld those up the only way to remove them would be to cut them out of the car also without the "give there they may crack easier.

If they are not tight enough open up the slot with a cutting disk so the clamp won't bottom out before it's tight.

I went to one of those shops that have the $39 cat signs and got mine for $120 installed.
