Sure, that how I thought you meant it. But how about the S50? There are multiple other variations of the M50 that were available in only one car as well. So, no, the S14 was not the only one.- Trey

So I guess to best summarize the question up:
No, the S50B30 (E36 M3 coupe), the M41D17 (E36 318tds), the M115 (BMW 1500), the M15B20 (E10 2002tii), and the M31B20 (E10 2002 turbo) are just a few engines used in one, single chassis.- Trey

OK - well, we of course split hairs here very easily with the different variations of the same motor.
So, to answer my own question - it's YES. (unless I missed something)Or has BMW made other motors that were chassis specific? (in other words - the basic motor(m10, m20, m30, m50, m70, ect)... seen only in one body type style (e12, e21, e30, e31, e36, e46, ect...)Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Would the S14 not be a variant of the M10? Someone said earlier that the S14 was essentially a S38 minus two cylinders, but the S38 was still a variation of the M30.
So, I don't think BMW has ever produced a brand new motor for one single chassis. I'm getting a headache though.

Well - then they are all variants of a F1 motor - but separate motors all on their own.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

True. You have to imagine how cost-uneffective it would be to create one single motor for one single chassis, even those cheap bastards at Porsche have been known to re-use motors (the M64 is a good example.)- Trey

And the one I mentioned: N73B60 (E65 760i/Li).
All the older V12s made it into E31s too, but this one is 7-specific.Comment
