Windows open, Rain storm, Ding Din Ding Ding

My girlfriend, left the windows and the sunroof open last night. We had a torrential rain storm last night. When I went to use the car this morning I discovered this. Theres a dinging noise sounds just like the door is open but I checked them all and they are air tight, and it continues to make the noise. Hope you can help. Shes, well shes real bright uh.:(

The door chime speaker is under the dash, driver's side. Remove that and check for water. Even better, just unplug said speaker - voila! Problem fixed (temporarily at least).

It would be best to put some time into drying everything out thoroughly. Not for just the electrical issues that could surface, but the mold/mildew that could develop. Start with removing the seats and get the carpet dry first. Since the sunroof was open, check your window switches and ciggy lighter since those were directly exposed to the rain.

Yeah she took it out the chime. It will be about 90 degrees today, I dont think I will have to remove anything, plus the seats are waterproof we had them teflon coated because she did ths in my car too, but mine are leather.

We got it done at a detailing shop. Pretty awesome, when I get in the car this morning. The seats had puddles in them that could be soaked up. Within seconds it was dry. We really had it done because she doesnt have a cup holder (yet) and keeps spilling sodas and waters trying to balance them in the passenger side seat, plus for this reason, forgetfulness. Like I said, shes real bright.

agreed, I can see it once but after this many times you need to have a system installed that closes everything when the keys are removed (can be done just takes some work) of course where I live you do that and wake up to no car, and I live in a decent neighborhood

for removing the musky smell and dampness go out and get some "Damp-Rid" hanging closet dehumidifiers. They are a giant descant bag and collects a ton of water from the atmosphere. Plus it has a pleasant "clean" scent, not too much but just enough to let you know that it doesn't smell like wet dog and ass in your car. Ever fart in a car when it's damp from getting in out of the rain?

That's not due to humidity, but pressure.

well the damp-rid stuff still does remove moisture from the atmosphere from inside the car.
