Real M technic cabrio's only came in sterling, macaoblau and brilliantrot.
these were badged "BMW M Technic" and are very rare.

Certain white cabs only had the appearance package w/white rims, interior and were badged "325i." Granted I believe these are worth more than a standard cab but these are not as rare as the "M technic" convertibles.
Seriously. I was shaking my head all the way down the thread until your post, Barry.

Just pointing that out. Just show that the car came with that M tech appearance package which is a rare $1700 factory option. It obviously doesn't look like an average 325iC, he should get at least twice that.

Just an fyi, I got $4970. for my M-tech II Alpine last year with more miles. At $4750, you're doing pretty good. Also, if your friend cares, I purchased my car back for $627 salvage cost. My wife still drives our car after some shade tree repair work and a new hood.

The insurance company also pays you sales tax back on the car, and dmv fees, so after the salvage deduction, I walked with $4674 AND the car.

If he does buy it back and parts it out I am still looking for a nice white complete interior for a 92 alpine m tech II, I am trying to resurrect from a very neglected state.

Also... you can get a private appraisal done, they usually aren't all that expensive.

After my last reply I started thinking!!! Most late verts you see advertised in decent shape are listed for 5,000. and up. These cars should not only be worth the additional 1,600 or 1,700 for the option, but there should be some worth in the fact they are becoming less in #s and e30s in general are becoming more collectible. If you do not believe me, look at some of the collections of them that some of the members here have. I myself own 3 e30s.

yeah it was a genuine factory mtech II appearance car I guess.

honestly man when posted that I was just being a knucklehead out of boredom. it was completely unnecessary, like all of my posts. no need to say sorry

                                good luck
