As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

        You have good tastes.

I didn't know that LeMansblau was still available, I was able to get a 123d M-Sport in LMB on bmw.co.uk.

The 135 & 335 are both awesome cars with the tuning potential to squash the new V8-powered M3. What I find as a bit of a disappointment is the price point on the 1-series. Yeah yeah....I know BMW is marketed as a premium brand, blah blah blah. Its just that a 335i is only marginally more expensive and yet you get a lot more car and the weight penalty of the 3er isn't a lot when compared to the 1er. I guess if you buy one with plans to gut it then my argument is a moot point.....but not everyone goes to this extreme. If it were me, I'd get the 335 since it is WAY more practical than the 135 and it could make for a nice dual-purpose car.

In 2 to 3 years time depreciation will make some of these cars a lot more obtainable, thus making them true performance bargains in the making. Not to mention in that time more well-engineered upgrades will be available in the aftermarket to personalize it your liking. Good times lay ahead :-)

                  I thought the 1's were e87's?

There was a 135i at the last csp meet with an e30 on one side and an e36 on the other and it was closer in size to the e36 than the e30.

Sure, if your definition of marginal is $6,300. I think that marginal may be more appropriate for your weight assessment as there is only 198 lbs. that separates the two.

Definitely agree about the good times on the horizon. Three year old, CPO'd, just outside of initial depreciation hit 135i FTW.

By the way, BMW is completely underestimating the application of four cylinders in the American market (under the BMW nameplate, not MINI). I would have easily gone in on a new 1er coupe if it featured the lovely turbo four that the Europeans get (diesel or petrol). Not everyone is going to automatically associate current offerings to offerings of yesterday (Stumpy ass 318ti I'm talking about you). Hell, I would have gone directly into a dealership and purchased a new 1er coupe had BMW not been so moronically insistent/stubborn on not allowing 1 series coupes to be configured without a sunroof.

i really love it... doev teh 135 and 335 back to back and the 1 felt a lot faster and handled better. IMHO if you want a lux ark get the 3 as it is no longer a performance car, the 1 has taken its place (its really e36/e46 size) at the small sport coupe. I really wish they would come out with an "m" version or tti or something.

... and why would you every want a $45k toy car with no sunroof??? or a turbo 4 when you can have a twin turbo 6???

I like them, but they just look so pudgy. Maybe some decent aero packages will help with that.

EDIT: Actually, that 123d says a lot more.

204 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, all while getting 54 MPG!
